I would not say the uniforms are intended to be 'iconic'. Their purpose is to link the old with the new. Provide a common phenom between the 80 year old and the 20 year old. Does it have to be uniforms? Not necessarily, but the more you connections you have, the stronger the 'brand' will be.This uniform thing seems to have rubbed a lot of you the wrong way.
It's just UNIFORMS!
I'm 32 and have been a fan of Florida football since '93. I've never really been a fan of the uniforms, though. I admit our uniforms have become synonymous with the UF brand, but they're not iconic to anyone.
I'm not dumping on you guys for not liking the new unis, but this board sounds like a group of curmudgeons.
Some of you sound like this is the worst thing ever.
Chill out! It's just one game, people. Next week we'll go back to wearing your classic favorites.
As much as we've sucked over the past 8 years I'm surprised so many people are reacting negatively to these. If there's a tradition I want to keep, it's getting back to competing for championships. I think our uniforms suck either way. But that's just my opinion.
Thanks for posting that Augusta.....caused me to look this up. For some reason I always thought this was a Stevie Wonder song. This may be the worst lip sync I have ever seen. It belongs in this thread.
Wrong. Just Orange or Blue fitted caps. Orange or Blue polo shirts. Some orange and blue stripes. Don't have T's anymore...those were white with logo. What's even more funny is the majority of you that hate these uniforms, love the fatigue uniforms schools have done in the past.
I'd gues most of you, or your girlfriends, have a Florida camouflage hat with the "F" on it or the Gatorhead.
I believe the shirts and pants are supposed to be the back and belly of the gator. The back (the shirt) is dark green with the scales. The belly (the pants and closer to the ground) are the belly with lighter color and less scaled looking. Is it too difficult to have the shirts and pants match?
I have never worn anything camouflage. What's even more funny is the majority of you that hate these uniforms, love the fatigue uniforms schools have done in the past.

Prediction: Hate turns to novelty and this otherwise dastardly looking uni becomes a fan cult fave. Esp amongst the students.
Hideous. The green uni on a green field is going to make them look even worse on TV. And hard to believe that after 18 months all the design geniuses at Nike could come up with was to put a gator head sticker on ONE side of the bland green helmet.I have to say, these things look even worse than they did in the pictures. That color is really bad - so damn dreary. It would have looked better if they had just done the damn thing all black with orange and blue highlights here and there.
