Very true Golmer, how about top 7, can we start there?

Golmer? Sorry I don’t get that reference. But to your question...

Many have said it’s too late to expect better than a 10-12 finish if commits stick. Seeing as DM isn’t giving us a ton of reasons to expect any major flips or 5* commits, I would venture a guess, “no.”

LB JD Bertrand, a former UGA commit who visited UF a few weeks ago, committed to ND today. Not a big surprise as our LB class if pretty full (unless a 5-star wants in). The only surprise is ND's class is pretty full and they weren't expected to have room for him.

Nobody is saying that. Stop being drunk at 8 in the morning.

we need to fill our class out with talented players at crucial positions. I’m not super worried about where the class is as long as we get our needs and they aren’t huge talent stretches

I’ve said it all along there’s quite a bit of flips that will happen/could potentially happen that aren’t being talked about.
This.
Everyone has gotten way too sensitive about recruiting. Of course class rankings matter, but it isn't as important as everyone thinks. I specifically recall people bashing the fact that Champ's classes were good in rankings, but were extremely uneven in numbers(ie: top heavy with DBs and small DEs).
But now when it comes to Mullen, it's all about the ranking again. I don't get it.
I actually think this class has the chance to be a really good class for us. While the overall ranking may be unspectacular, the needs are definitely being addressed with quality players. I think that's infinitely more important than the ranking. But I'm not a Mullen hater like some of these people on here. Who are more concerned about being right that Mullen isn't a good coach than actually giving the guy a fair shake.

yet we still have people advocating that we don't actually need RB's this cycle, despite having a run heavy offense. We'll potentially only have Pierce as a reliable back next y ear. Scarlett is likely gone, Perine will depend on combine type numbers, Davis can't stay healthy and Clement is unproven.

Also, where are the Safeties and DL? You can say we have time, but I'm not even seeing backup plans at S, and the backup plans on DL are not inspiring at all, but to be fair, DL is where we have the most targeted flips. Also to be fair, how many kids just up and flip w/o a coaching change?

He was fired from Oklahoma, right? What changed? Was it better athletes? Or did he learn from his previous mistakes?

I remember Venables taking some heat for some big game collapses the year he got canned in favor of Bob’s bro, but I couldn’t tell you what his overall track record looks like. He certainly landed on his feet at climpson.

Read any Dan Jenkins? I think it was in "You Gotta Play Hurt" that he referred to "them Climpsons and them Flarstates". Could be wrong...it's been a LOOOOONG time since I read it.

I haven’t, but that’s a long standing southern pronunciation, so I just rolled with it.

Current commits as of 11/20/18:
QB Jalon Jones 4 star
OL Will Harrod 4 star
OL Wadrick Wilson 4 star
OL Riley Simonds 3 star
OL Ethan White 3 star
WR Dionte Marks 3 star
WR Ja'Markis Weston 3 star
DB Chester Kimbrough 4 star
DB Jaydon Hill 3 star
DE Mohamoud Diabate 4 star
DT Jaelin Humphries 4 star
LB Tyron Hopper 4 star
LB Jesiah Pierre 3 star
ATH Trent Whittemore 3 star
ATH Diwun Black 4 star (Both ATH guys have been discussed as potential options at safety)

Probable commits:
TE Keon Zipperer 4 star
OL Deyavie Hammond 4 star
OL Kamaar Bell 3 star
DE Lloyd Summerall 4 star

Likely commits:
CB Kair Elam 4 star (If we whiff and lose him to the Dawgs it's a disaster)
RB Nay'quan Wright 4 star

That's 21 players (13 4 stars) with some surprises yet to come from possible signings like Steele, Fuller, Pickering, etc. and there will be offers to lower ranked players the staff sees potential or necessity in. Could be 25 in the class altogether. DB, DL, and WR recruiting needs shoring up as has already been noted.
