I'm glad all you bozos can reminisce about all your fond memories of the transition. I for one was left behind to deal with the scraps that were left at GSMB.

Bottom line is you guys left me behind for months. Maybe a year. It was so long that I missed becoming a founding member.

Law was one of my biggest pains in the ass at GSMB, but I will credit him for finally showing up and rescuing me from the island of misfit toys and inviting me to Gator Chatter. Ox never did. :weep:

I've never forgotten, or forgiven, you guys for this. It is what makes me so insecure around here and why I have attachment issues.
I thought you left the board years ago.

Also, you joined in October, 5 months after the site was started. You weren't abandoned for a year.

I lurked at GSMB for about 10 years before joining in 2013. Then it was shuttered. I received an email that it was up and running again so I rejoined only to see someone post about Gator Chatter. The rest is history.

Similar to me. Lurked for years and saw a post to come here. I never actually signed up on the other one because it refused to accept my personal email.

Same here. I tried to register for well over a year, just kept getting emails saying I could post as soon as the administrator approved my account.. Never happened, then it just disappeared..

That’s because no one was acting as the admin. They just neglected the site and then got pissed when we made fun of them for it.

The GSMB software glitch led to posts not appearing in order, which was bizzaro. You literally found yourself reading someone's reply before the post they were replying to. Nothing made sense. It went on this way for about a month.

Russ, the admin, a really good guy, had reduced his visits to about once a year. Management visited even less frequent. It had reached the point of total abyss, perhaps not too surprising considering the source. They just didn't give a shyt.

Everything happens for a reason. Ox created a tremendous site that far exceeds anything the Sun was ever going to do. This feels more like family. It's been a win-win.

When the Hailifax thread was started, I just finished reading David Thorne's website. My Halifax email exchange was simply a lame attempt to try to duplicate his humor.

Here is one of his funniest email exchanges between him and a secretary. I am warning you his website is addictive:
"yeah thats not what I was looking for at all."

I panicked when the board was shut down. I begged for forgiveness and placed the bag on my head in shame when I attempted to signup here. Ox, naturally, laughed his ass off. Kudos to you Ox for this site.

Brad, I just want to say, I love you, man.

For the first year or two of the existence of the Chatter, I would have panic attacks whenever the board would crash - it was like expected everyone to throw up their hands and walk away, giving me the bird on their way out. I had blown it, it was over.

These days I view a server crash as a good thing so everyone can get a break.

A handful of members have my phone number. Whenever the site goes down, I'll get texts....they always seem to assume I have no idea, for some reason. You can also tell they are starting to freak out with withdrawals, just like a druggie cut off from heroin. They start to sweat, then shake, perhaps even vomit if the site is down long enough.

If Gatorchatter was shut down forever, there could be fatalities.

BTW, two reminders: If there's a shutdown, I'll try to update what's going on on our Facebook page. Also, Todo10 gets alerts whenever the site goes down as well, so he's on it immediately, day or night. They are the best website hosts I have ever seen. There's no way they sleep.

It was brad, 78, or NV that saw me lurking at SwampGas and told me, not too long after Ox got chatter going.

I had been at the old GSMB since the days of SOS, distinctly remembering a Vol troll wishing that Gators were in the WTC on 9/11, also remember it crashing the morning Spurrier up and resigned.

Fake news.

I have it on good authority that Todo is a chick and smokin’ hot. Y’all should hit her up with PMs. I would but I’m happily married.

Considering I get a weekly email about the hot topics, you should consider sending out an email to the members vs. FB. I highly doubt most of the members have liked the FB account. In addition, I rarely see any FB posts.

You don't have to like the FB account to see an update. Just go to Facebook and type "Gatorchatter" in the search line. If the site is down, go there. It's not rocket science.
