Come on man ... saying Brantley spent 2 years under Mullens is not a very accurate statement. He redshirted his first year (2007) and was buried in the depth chart his 2nd year (2008).
Is there another QB coach for the second string QB?

I wasnt aware of that.

No but you tend to devote more time to the first two in the depth chart. He went to a small school and played in 2A (actually 2B) and not 8A like Beck. Big difference. In 2A you don't have 300# monsters running a 4.6-4.7 barreling down on your behind. When he faced them in college he cowered and went into the fetal position.
The man did not play until his 4th year. By that time he must have picked up something.

I can say that I spoke with a GA after the Bama game on the road in 2009. He basically said that Brantley was a prototypical pocket passer that SOS would have loved, but Urban ruined him. His confidence was destroyed because he didn't know how to run an option and had never run an option.

If Beck has shown he can make the reads in run game, great. If not, we could be in trouble.

Nothing in his resume is impressive, in the slightest.

Who gets the bulk of the credit for transforming FF from dumpster fire to serviceable QB? DM or Johnson? I have no inside knowledge, but I’m guessing the position coach has more time to focus on QB development while the HC is handling the big picture. Do we have any definitive info that DM is camping out with the QBs?

Mullinz is the QB coach.

I love having a stable OC/QB coach situation. If you have one that is decent and who isn't the HBC, they get job offers. Some terrible ones get offers even.

It's not that hard to find a serviceable DC. It's freaking impossible to find a good OC and keep him.

He signed with Urban Meyer to run the option.

I have no sympathy. It was obvious what the offense was.

CB recruiting is interesting in this class. There's a 5-star in Jacksonville that looks like he's heading to Ohio State, and he has a 4-star teammate. We're offering a lot of 3-star kids, including the one from Sandalwood HS that committed to Alabama. This kid is from Lakeland Kathleen HS:

Kendall Dennis, 6' 170 - no ranking on 247 or Rivals:

Kendall Dennis, Kathleen, Cornerback

Mullen spoke very, very highly of Johnson when he spoke in DC. He talked about his "QB room" at Utah; 2 of the QBs are now doctors - one is a nuero-surgeon, the other is an orthopedic surgeon, one is the QB for the Redskins and the other is the QB coach at UF. He said Johnson could have taken a few G5 OC offers, but chose to come to UF. He said Johnson will be an OC very soon.

He was an OC at Houston and got fired. Admittedly, he worked for an incompetent toolbag. HOWEVER, he knew that going in. Why do you take that job?

I don't dislike him... I just know who the real QB coach and OC is.

This is really not a hard concept to grasp
