Pre-Brie flap, BO Mojo had opening domestic take in the $140-$180MM range, so it performed adequately. I don't even know, nor care, what she said, but it was dumb to say anything, period.

FWIW, my soon to be 17 year old daughter really liked it, so "Mr. Conservative" here contributed to the $153MM... what's your point?

Did not read all 71 pages. I saw Mandy last week. My fav film of 2018. It's a psychedelic revenge movie. The bad guys & unlikely allies are LSD lovin' Jesus freaks & bikers.

Color me unimpressed when folks are arguing on a college sports web site about movie ratings. Epitome of off season.

= = = = =

Took the son (10) to see Cpt. Marvel today - he had NONE of the background and just likes Marvel movies. I had a little background, thanks you to you guys providing links and allowing me to kill half a day at work reading up on the current and coming Marvel releases. Still, went in not really knowing what to expect other than "Marvel". Without being clouded by the history of the character being Male-Female-TG-OMG-WTF-BBQ, I took it at face value and enjoyed what was presented. It was a little tough for him to follow the parts where the Kree were rewinding her memories, or when Kree were impersonating other people (Dad, is he Kree? What about him? Ugh), but overall not too tough to follow. Nice to see Agent Coulson again, and a younger Fury. I very much appreciated the nostalgia of the 90's, knowing my son just viewed it as 'old'. Good action, decent story line with a twist or two. The expected good doses of humor - the cat, while being a late character, became my son's favorite. Overall fits well in the series, sets for a sequel, though I don't expect much from it. All in all, enjoyable (says the fanboy). I will admit, in my mind, I kept hearing the news quotes of 'not for you white males' and I kept staring at her boobs saying 'yeah, those are definitely for me'. 7.5/10

Yeah she does have great tits. When she’s not complaining about the oppression of men she takes nude selfies on her phone. Joe Bob says check it out.

A few I have caught recently.

Triple Frontier (Netflix) - This has a great cast with Affleck and Issiac leading the way. Follows a group of mostly retired special forces soldiers. One of them still does contract work and gets a deal where they will get to keep most of the drug money that they seize after that countries government takes a cut. He recruits his old team and they go in, but of course problems occur after obtaining all of the money and it is a race for survival.

This movie is good but not great. could have gone to a theater as well as Netflix, but don't think it would have fared much better. It an above average Netflix film that is entertaining when you want to watch something new. 6/10.

The next two I watched with Queen Ginger so she may have a different take than I did.

Bohemium Rhapsody - Been talked about on here often so I figured I would give my take. I didn't hate it, but didn't love it. Obviously the soundtrack is great, but at times, especially early in the movie I found myself annoyed by how hard the mouthpiece seemed to be for him to talk with, intentional or not. This was one of those where I was counting down the time until it ended after it seemed like it was dragging forever. 5/10 for me, but the wife liked this one more than I did.

Mary Poppins Returns - We debated watching this just us or with our son, but realized there is no way he would pay attention to it and would rather watch Star Wars. My wife is a huge fan of the original so this she was excited for. I could care less about the first so I had no expectations. That being said my wife for the most part hated it. While she liked Emily Blunt's take on the character and a few cameo's from some Disney stars of the past she didn't like much else. She hated the characters and the songs for the most part, especially the guy who took on the dick van dyke type of role.

To catch you up to speed essentially the kids in this one are the children of the ones in the first. They are about to lose their home when Mary Poppins shows up. The adults wondering if everything they remember was true or not while the kids go on their own adventures while she helps mend the family like in the first. My wife would probably give this a 1/10 with how she felt about it. I'll give it a 4/10 just because I could not care a thing about this movie.

Double Feature on my PC tonight:

Red Sparrow - I wanted to see it based on the trailers and feedback in here. I wasn't disappointed. More Jennifer Lawrence skin than I've gotten from other films :naughty:, decent spy film where you could wonder which side she is playing. American CIA dude was a bit of a less-than-expected, Sparrow's uncle was a dick and a half, and the 'mole' was a bit unexpected but I really liked how he and the uncle played out at the end. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see her come back in a sequel. The film was all about the characters and the storyline, how people manipulate and play situations. Which is to say, the cinematography, lighting, visuals, soundtrack, etc where not that notable (in a solid supporting or horribly distracting way). Violence was a little more than a 'spy movie' normally gets, but it fit the story. Side boobs were nice. 7/10

Overlord - Premise is D-Day some airborne troops are dropping into a French village to destroy a radio tower in order to help the air support coming with the invasion. They get shot to **** coming in and only a few survive, we follow one private as our protagonist. Our small band get thru the woods towards the target village and hook up with a local girl who helps out a bit. German troops in the village are total dicks, and we find they are experimenting on the villagers but aren't told how or why. Our lead private bumbles his way into the church turned fortress through a somewhat amusing series of unexpected events and ends up finding what the experiments are, sort of, and rescuing one of his mates that was caught during the air drop. Main villain is the head of the German troops, who gets captured by our small band and beat to hell for information by the lead American. Jump ahead a bit and he escapes, Americans make their sneak attack on the base, discover the truth of the experiments along the way, and save the day...with those who survive. As much as Red Sparrow was about the story and not about the filming...this was more filming over a comic book storyline. The imagery, lighting, sequences, and general enjoyment of the 'film' was great - pretty much how I always imagined such a time from my war comic books growing up. The story, as I say, is comic book level, but executed adequately as an alternate possible reality. While trailers give you a sense of a horror film, it wasn't that. There are some 'monsters' but the special effects are very well done and nothing gets hokey (except, perhaps, the dialogue of the closing scene, but c'mon..ya gotta end with something). Anyway, no cheap 'boo' moments, no cheesy villain monologues, all in all a pretty good semi-gore war film with a monster tone. 7.5/10

I watched triple frontier the other day. I liked it , lot of action and unpredictable ending. Ben Affleck and guy from narcos ( and game of thrones) were in it. Give it a watch.
Also The Dirt on Netflix is good , Motley Crew movie was entertaining, crazy stuff and I'm sure it was toned down for ratings reasons

Box office estimates for Avengers: Endgame's opening weekend are in the mid-high $800M range, with some people even saying it could touch $900M. For just the opening weekend. This movie is going to scream past the $2B mark, and while most experts don't think Avatar's $2.7B is a number that can be touched, if a movie gets 1/3 of the way there on its opening weekend, I'd say the record is in play. I think it's safe to say this could be the most anticipated movie of all time.

I was refreshing Fandango like a madman on Tuesday morning and snagged the first two seats in our theater at 7:48. By 8:00 or so, websites had started slowing down, by 8:15 they were crashing.
