. You just misinterpret his stuff most of the time
Please, he was the primary pushing the "June will be HUGE" bs last year. I guess it was huge, we lost several recruits.

Im sure he is just echoing what the staff told him, but they were just incredibly wrong.

Where did you get he was down? I thought he was being personally targeted by Torrian Gray?

He was on our CB board, but the last I saw he was 8th out of 9 (this was posted on another board last week - some "insider":

Pouncey, Jahquez Robinson, Kendall Dennis, F. Davis, Luke Hill, Demorie Tate, Keontae Jenkins, Avery Helm, Arian Smith.

The "insider" was obviously wrong.

No, the insider posted the CB "board" and Helm's name was 8th out of 9. I suppose they took the first commit they got. Fred Davis is likely going Clemson, Robinson is committed to Alabama, and a few others are leaning elsewhere. So he was realistically higher on the "board". You know how this works - there's a wish list and then there's reality.

Edit: we're in good shape w/ Pouncey...but also Kendall Dennis & Arian Smith. We're pushing hard to flip Robinson as well. We could get 2 of those 4...but we also need 2 safeties.

Farrell think UF is the hottest team on the trail right now.

Rivals - Three-Point Stance: Hot 11, two-stars, Five-Star Challenge preview

Recruiting for 2020 is starting to heat up as we head towards the commitment/decommitment period formerly known as the spring evaluation period. Based on talking to recruits, the buzz on social media and the impressive lists of unofficial visitors, here are the programs I see having the most momentum heading into this crucial time. Let’s call it the Hot 11.

Florida – I may be the only one who thinks so, but the Gators have clearly been one of the programs in the Southeast being talked about the most and the list of unofficial visitors has been off the hook. The Gators are in the national top-10 in recruiting right now and things are getting better and better under Dan Mullen.

Mullen's got us "on course" with Avery at the helm.
Yet, that ACL injury is sometimes unforgiving in recovery.

Nice pickup. Wonder if his ACL tear has him down the list or if it’s not factored in? Glad to see we are reeling in mostly 4 stars and hand selected 3 stars. Still could be better but definitely trending correctly.

I guess my point is this, if you are a kid that they take when #1 and #2 are committed (or strong lean) elsewhere, you are not #8 you are number #3, although there may be several #3a #3b #3c etc.

As for safeties, at this point you wonder if it's not a failure to take safeties, it is the plan. Just take a bunch of CBs and move some to safety?

I don't know what the plan is at DT or ILB. I'm beginning to think there is no plan and they are just going to wing it or Choker is planning on having another job.

That's one big strong mofo who can apparently move pretty well for his gigantic size. He seems like he might be the seventh or even sixth man on the OL.

Was Jalapeno our last true freshman to start game 1?

And he'll lose more weight before the season.

I'm so glad we at least have the mentality that we're arguing about whether or not a 4* is a take instead of why are we taking another 3*

Player rankings do have a logic to them. I'm not one of those that say stars don't matter. They do. However, I'll take a long, fast, athletic corner like Helm (ranked 19th) over 5'10 or 5'11 guys (Luke Hill, Clark Phillips ranked 4th and 5th) . With the big receivers nowadays, corners under 6ft are at a huge disadvantage. Plus, it seems his rankings dipped after he got hurt. If he doesn't get injured, it's possible he climbs higher. Instead of being 300, he's 200. Just a thought.

The same goes for underthrown passes, with Helm typically stopping on a dime, adjusting and then getting vertical. Helm recorded three interceptions in 2018, but that number could have been higher as well. However, the main objective is to prevent a completed pass, and more often than not, Helm came out on the winning side of those battles.

Maybe in TX, but I'm guessing most HS don't keep stats on how many people are thrown at, how many PBU vs Completions vs INTs; etc. Would help for context if other schools are afraid to throw at this kid, or like to pick on him.

Totally agree w/ you Law - that's why I said in my post "you know how this works". I think the staff identified 9 to 10 CB's, ranked them....and after some commits/leans elsewhere felt good about taking one off the board (vs. a Plan B that wasn't on the initial board). Looks like Fred Davis is going to commit to Clemson today, so that's another off the board. We'll be fine at CB, we always are (w/ the exception of Williamson).

We have one safety (Torrence) and need at least one more. I think we'll land one of this group:

Javier Morton, Avantae Williams, Major Burns, Derek Bermudez, Trenton Yowe, Brian Branch, Lejond Cavazos, .

As far as DL goes, we already got two heavy guys (Dexter and Brown) - we need at least one more, hopefully two. We seem to be in good shape. Other than Chantz Williams I don't want to see another "edge/ILB" guy at all.

He's 235 on Rivals, which I'm perfectly fine with (304 on 247 composite). Agree that his injury is hurting his ranking - he can't camp and show his skills. If he's a legit 4.4 that's incredible. Also agree on the taller DB's nowadays. With the way our depth is building we should be able to redshirt a lot of these future classes - and let them play their 4 games (vs. throwing them to the wolves). We just need to shore up the DT/SDE depth, Safety depth, and OL depth.
