I've kinda been blah about the program for a few years because of all the letdowns and mismanagement that we've been forced to suffer through over the past decade. It caused me to be super frustrated and back away from this place for a bit. I was extremely negative about the program's direction, and I didn't want to just login and be a dick to the sunshine pumpers, or have a nonstop circle jerk with those who felt the same as I did. But, now that the season is fast approaching, I have found myself getting more excited over the past few days for what the long term future may hold.
As I have mentioned before, I think we finally have a good coach, but I am not convinced that he is a great coach... yet. Hopefully Mullen will prove that he is great to all of us this year. But I think he is going to have his hands full and we may slide backwards a bit because of inexperience on the OL and the lack of overall depth and talent in the middle of the D. And I have no idea what to expect out of the QB position. I still think we are 3 years of elite recruiting away from Mullen having the team he needs to consistently compete for titles.
But, that's just one old man's opinion. Hopefully we will realize this Saturday that the program is ahead of schedule. Regardless of what happens, I am a Gator to the core, and I hope to God that we beat the hell out of Miami. I truly hate that program, and will always be bitter over how the 1980's went for both schools. Any victory over those bastards is a great one, and should be cherished forever.
In all kinds of weather...
