Well, we've so successfully ensured that nothing about the program leaks out that there is veritably zero build up. We don't see practices. We don't get many interviews. We don't have pre-season hype events. I'm not sure the SID exists anymore, or perhaps they are going going out of their way to treat it the same as gymnastics and baseball.

It's like football doesn't exist anymore, which is probably by design.

Leave it to Swonkey to sooth 78's ruffle by posting gripes about causes of the gripes that 78 was griping about.
I'm with Queenie, how could she know this place when this place is for noing ?

I've kinda been blah about the program for a few years because of all the letdowns and mismanagement that we've been forced to suffer through over the past decade. It caused me to be super frustrated and back away from this place for a bit. I was extremely negative about the program's direction, and I didn't want to just login and be a dick to the sunshine pumpers, or have a nonstop circle jerk with those who felt the same as I did. But, now that the season is fast approaching, I have found myself getting more excited over the past few days for what the long term future may hold.

As I have mentioned before, I think we finally have a good coach, but I am not convinced that he is a great coach... yet. Hopefully Mullen will prove that he is great to all of us this year. But I think he is going to have his hands full and we may slide backwards a bit because of inexperience on the OL and the lack of overall depth and talent in the middle of the D. And I have no idea what to expect out of the QB position. I still think we are 3 years of elite recruiting away from Mullen having the team he needs to consistently compete for titles.

But, that's just one old man's opinion. Hopefully we will realize this Saturday that the program is ahead of schedule. Regardless of what happens, I am a Gator to the core, and I hope to God that we beat the hell out of Miami. I truly hate that program, and will always be bitter over how the 1980's went for both schools. Any victory over those bastards is a great one, and should be cherished forever.

In all kinds of weather... :chomp:

I think moving the game up actually has simmered interest, not increased it as one would assume.

Yep. It just does not feel like football season till labor Day. I think the first quarter will be ugly for both teams and basically the first team that gets its **** together and realizes the season has actually started will hold big advantage

This mosh pit thread makes me think ‘78 still wears Ed Hardy pants and Affliction shirts.

You wouldn't know a mosh pit if one sat on your face and started to wiggle.

what all you young mofos do not understand is we have turned back to the clock to the 1960s with this schedule. Throw out two of the "little sisters of the poor teams" and we have entered a time machine PLUS tennerseeee. Time was we played UGA>AUB>FSU>UM>LSU each year but only ten games. This is the year of rivals. We play them all. For some reason other teams have ALWAYS hated UF or we hated them and then they returned it. SOS helped fan the flames quite a bit. IF somehow we beat those first four this has to go down as one of the greatest seasons of all time. I Went back and read the summary of 1964. Right beside each of those game I mentioned is the word "rivalry". And now we have added UT and LSU (which was called a rivalry game in 64.) 1964 Florida Gators football team - Wikipedia

First off, should have been "in shambles" instead of "mosh pit". A for effort, D for execution.

But I dont think the bickering is anything new. It's just about everything else in the world since there is no football to talk about. Win or lose, this place will feel like its old self on Sunday morning.
