Good article. Agree with most all of it. He pumps some shine at the end which is expected, but when purely talking history and facts it's pretty obvious that what we've been complaining about is exactly what the data shows. I don't think it will be interesting to see what happens as he alludes to at the end. I think it will be obvious. If the staff doesn't change then nothing else will either. That's really all there is to it.

At this point I don't even think a staff change will help. Look at the recruiters who have been here and then left; they do much better and that's because DM doesn't take recruiting seriously enough or he just isn't likable enough which makes it hard for guys who are KNOWN recruiters like Brewster to do work.

I think the biggest problem is the record the last two years - yes, it's great to go 11-2 and win a NY6 bowl game. For the pumpers it's fool's gold. For the realists, the issues are obvious. Both years (under Mullen) we've had a lot of bounces go our way and pulled out some ugly wins vs. teams we should steamroll (Kentucky, Missouri, Vandy, SC, Miami), then some close wins vs. good teams (LSU, Miss State, Auburn). With the recruiting efforts, when the ball bounces the other way we're going to see more 2018 Kentucky type losses, rather than 2018 LSU type wins. The only thing that will cure that is: recruiting (not Mullen's "great" play calling).

Most teams out-talent their opponents. That's why you often see a close game at halftime with an Alabama or Ohio State type roster that ends in a blowout - the talent & depth finally beat down the lesser opponent in the second half.

There are plenty of homers out there who are happy going 9-3, 10-2 every year with a NY6 bowl game - and that's the problem: fool's gold. "We'll turn the corner next year!"

Mullen's not getting fired anytime soon, he's got at least 3 more seasons (unless he leaves for the NFL or bangs a co-ed on Fuch's desk). I'm not sure what Mullen's thinking ("I'll just out coach 'em!!"??) but he needs to have a come to Jesus about this staff. He likely gets another pass for having a mediocre/middle of the pack SEC class due to the China Virus, "Oh, if it wasn't for the China Virus we would have gotten all the Palmetto kids and ten more 5-stars!!!"

Letting Seider walk is still my biggest b*tch in regards to Mullen era to date....dude might be a QB guru, but that decision sure was telling of his recruiting abilities/knowledge. Granted we are all armchair professionals, but what is going to freaking take for Mullen to bring a couple more personalities on staff that kids want to play for?

Mullen ain't changing. What we have now is what we will keep getting until he is done. Mediocre recruiting and being UGA's b!tch. I just hope we can move on before we become UTs b!tch too.

UT hiring a new coach? Pruitt couldn't win at the High School level let alone the SEC

Also he won't survive his fourth straight loss to ugly.

And based on Mullen's recruiting performance, that co-ed would probably be only a 6/7 when the coach should be able to pull a 9/10.

To answer the question of the article: stop being himself

How scary are these quotes from Meyer:

On pages 151 and 152 of Urban Meyer’s book, “Urban’s Way,” Meyer is quoted as saying the following:

“Tim (Tebow) almost didn’t come to Florida because of him (Mullen). We had to overcome our quarterback coach to get Tim Tebow to come here.”

He also indicates that every QB under Mullen had issues with him but eventually came to love him, saying, “Chris Leak had that problem and wound up loving Dan. Josh Harris (Bowling Green) didn’t like Dan at first. Now he and Josh talk all the time. When he first got Alex Smith (Utah) they didn’t hit it off right away. He and Alex are best friends now.”

Is this still the case? Maybe Mullen has changed significantly. But the fact that the measurables associated with recruiting have decreased this year with the pandemic in full gear does indicate to me that recruits have to get to know him rather than him being able to sell his vision quickly and easily.

He’s just not a natural recruiter.

End quote. That’s it.

I'd love it if he banged a coed on Fuchs desk, at least it would show some passion...
well he makes millions of dollars a year and does not have a trophy wife.... just saying.

not sure he can land a co-ed
