oh man... that is sweet. I love Patti Loveless' live version too
Thread asked for covers, so this came to mind.
My dad's ears perked up and he started singing along when this song came on...i mean, where the hell had he heard this, i was a teenage punk listening to Nirvana. He sung the whole thing...he knew the original.
Seedy, is your dad a Leadbelly fan (not sure how old he is)? I'm not a Nirvana fan at all, I associate them with the rotten attitude of my teenage daughters in the '90's, but Cobain does a decent job with the old blues classic.
He knew good music, R.I.P.Dad knew the original. He passes in 2018.
A rare stage appearance for guitar maker PRS. The exotic wood he uses is why the tone is so good.
Along that same line, hard for me to grasp Pete Frampton being only 18 when he was in Humble Pie. Back in those early days in music across the board I suppose it was kinda normal to be young. Heck George Harrison was just a bit older at 20 when The Beatles caught fire. The rest of them were in their early 20's as well but GH was the youngest. Being that young and making the impact The Beatles did--simply doesn't get any bigger than The Beatles.I still can't believe that Steve Winwood was only 19 when he started with Traffic.

Oh to be young again....(and have some talent would help too)
OK, that was pretty damn good... almost sounds like Sammy Hagar singing. I still can't believe that Steve Winwood was only 19 when he started with Traffic.
See, that's just wrong. People that age shouldn't have that kind of talent.;)Winwood was 14 when he started
Steve Winwood was 14 or 15 when he played keyboards and sang with the Spencer Davis Group. He wrote I'm a Man.
