Sounds a lot like another guy having trouble with the press these days :scratchchin: I didn’t watch it, but he didn’t at any point say something like “It doesn’t matter if it was 6 minutes, 6 days, or 6 weeks, by the time we got the ball in range, there wasn’t enough time left to get set and kick it.”

It made zero sense. Why did he let EJ take a shot down field and get a first down then suddenly quit if he was so scared? His brain was clearly not functioning.
I don’t think we attempted a pass of more than 20 yards. I give no Fuchs about what coverage they’re in. If you’re going to open the field so you can run, you’ve gotta take some shots during a game.

So goofy. they were not playing particularly deep and usually only one high. second even if they were playing two three or four, you can still pass on that. you change the routes with you're still huge seams.

Think Spurrier cared if the had two safeties? hell no.

What NFL is going to want to run an offense (outside of Baltimore) where they are going to put there 30-50 million dollar quarterback in harms way on a regular basis?

The NFL isn't going to touch Mullen, because as much as the National Media likes that qb whisperer titles (really has a good agent to push that). Can you name two quarterback in his 15 year Head Coaching career that made their second NFL contract? Look at the evals of his quarterbacks coming out of college, almost all have the same issues, including Trask who was considered his most NFL ready quarterback.

He's so full of schit on the "snap count"... "we used what everyone uses"... totally ignoring that Saban said live on TV, for the whole world to hear, "We couldn't here the clap count, so we had to go to silent count."

And lame assed media doesn't follow up with "what about going to a silent count?"

Just to document this fact -

Saban on dealing with the noise in the Swamp:
"Just trying to hear Bryce change the calls or change the protection, it can be hard sometimes just trying to hear,” Ekiyor said. “We had some issues with that sometimes and communicating which type of cadence we were doing. Sometimes we were confused on whether we were going on the clap. We had started with the clap going into the game, but as the sound got louder, obviously couldn’t hear the clap. We went to a silent cadence later on in the game, so that was a little bit better.”

Mullen:
""I mean, the snap count, our snap count we’ve used it, most people use it around the country. The teams we’ve played have used it in the Swamp," Mullen said Monday. "That’s something we’ll look at with our guys. It’s something we use and most teams around the country use. It’s something we’re looking at to make sure we’re communicating everything the right way.”

Florida clearly had a plan going into the game for a clap count. Dan Mullen was asked how easy or if possible to make a change in the middle of the game.

“You can do it, yeah. Obviously, it's much easier said than done. There's a lot that goes into what we practice and how we do things so," Mullen said. "But, you know, we're gonna continue to look at each one of the different scenarios and everything that happens and we'll go improve on it and coach it up and get it fixed.”

From the “I guess that’s sputtering” playbook.

NCAA TEAM OFFENSE RANK
Scoring 56th
Third down conversion 34th
Red Zone efficiency 89th
Total offense 10th

Seldom has a coach done less with more.

Thanks for posting. I've been talking about what Saban said vs what Dan said for days.

Palm Beach Post had an interesting stat in today’s paper: Emory Jones has only had 12 attempts ALL SEASON of 20+ yards.

I guess the one silver lining to all this is that the media has turned on Mullen and is starting to say publicly what everyone here has been saying for years.

It's hard for an AD to fire a coach that's had 3 straight NY6 bowl appearances; even harder still when the media's in his corner and selling the narrative that he's "rebuilt" Florida into a contender.

That narrative was destroyed last Saturday in Lexington once and for all. Now, people are noticing the flaws and being more critical.

Mullen will respond in one of two ways: he holds himself accountable and focuses on winning every remaining game this year (running up the score as much as he can vs overmatched opponents); or he continues to do the same things and be defensive when questioned. We'll have him another year, unfortunately. But how the rest of the season goes from here will directly impact how much heat is on Mullen's seat going into next year.

Dorky Dan is so clueless that he doesn't even recognize how his responses to the obvious questions make him even more clueless than we thought.

In his defense there were a lot of people who believed his BS and still do... He is making $7.6 million for this, and has been running the same scam on our administration for 4 years. Can you really blame him?

If Mullen didn't make a ridiculous 7.6M a year this wouldn't be a big deal. But because he is making that much money the expectation to produce is a big deal. He got a raise this off season and a 3 year extension. His buyout is 12M that would require he receive 6M within 30 days of being shown the door and then the rest in annual payments over 6 years. Stricklin ain't going to do anything unless he is forced.

Gators’ Dan Mullen gets 3-year extension, becomes 3rd-highest paid coach in SEC

This is a well-written and fairly balanced article. Not flattering, not "off with his head" fanbase ire.

FL's season is over, but beating georgia is a worthy goal and getting to 10 wins and a NY6 Bowl Game is also a worthy goal (and would keep FL relevant and in the national conversation going into next year).

But that won't happen unless Mullen reads the room and puts his entire heart and soul into the remaining games. The fanbase is irritated (having never really liked him much to begin with) and the media are getting more critical. It would help immensely if in his next presser, he comes out and says "I thought about it more...and yea, I goofed: should have utilized better clock management, been more aggressive, and run the two minute drill. Won't happen again." Acknowledgement is the first step towards accountability and you better believe the team will notice/follow as well.

Mullen really needs to read this article and take it to heart. He's seemingly so blinded by his arrogance, though, I can't see him changing anything. He initially stopped the bleeding from the Butters' era, but he's been inflicting his own wounds for some time now and has to go.
