Muschamp's offensive philosophy + McElwain's style of offense = a boring, apathetic hire. That said, Napier's work ethic, attention to detail, and desire to recruit is the opposite of Mullen. Therefore, I'm not surprised at all that Napier would be Strickland's top target.

I don't doubt that he's an improvement from the last 3 guys in terms of his leadership, which is very important. His football philosophy, however, seems to be a bad cultural fit here. I'm not sure who Strickland is listening to for advice on this search, but I really hope someone he trusts points this out to him.

I guess who'd you rather have.

The idiot savant Sling Blade or the ADHD child?

But If it's Kiffin, Tosh needs to have the Kiffin Corner for UF

I am not sold on this guy, especially to the multi million dollars we are going to pay out. The whole every other team wants him so he's gotta be good seems like we are being trolled....

Do recruits (not the 2 star variety) even know who this guy is? What 5 star has he recruited to any of his litany of past jobs.

And how many losses to Kentucky does it take for the fan base change their thinking from his Mr. All Business ball buster attitude to he's just another azz hat, yellow toothed guy.

Someone like Kiffin is a quick burn. Probably good fast but not, to use Strickland language, sustainable. Napier seems like a program builder that may take an extra year or so but can keep it going. I agree his staff hires are probably the biggest question with him.

So at what point in this thread are we all going to remember he hasn't been named the coach yet? Even the UF beat writers said last night Stricklin hasn't been to see him yet. No way Stricklin hires this guy this fast after firing Mullen, way too many rumors about other candidates still left to go through.

This is equal to FSU hiring Norvelle
Same hire.
No real accomplishments at the Power 5 level.
Not a big splash
Not a big name
Not a big deal

Just a coach.

I’d rather go after a guy that’s actually accomplished something at the group of 5 level than this boring, no name Sun Belt champion.

Again
If he’s the guy then I’m backing him until we lose back to back to LSU and Kentucky….not to mention Ga.

That looks pretty damn impressive, but the good ones were for Clemson and Bama. So the question is, was it him, or the school?
I mean obviously the school name is a big draw, but so in theory is Florida. I doubt he'd be allowed to handle that responsibility if he couldn't do it for those programs.

Good question. I say it has to be both. Napier would have to work his azz off and the administration have got to open the checkbook. Whatever UGAly budgets, we do more in all facets.

I saw it somewhere that he is #1 recruiting in Sun Belt for the last two years. So he recruited great at Clemson/Bama and now is getting the best talent versus his competition in the Sun Belt.

If we actually hire this bum, we must give him for more of an opportunity than we usually give our coaches. If this guy is to succeed here, it will be slowly over time. I hope we are prepared for a losing season(s) and then mediocre ones. Think Mark Stoops and Kentucky.

Oh please. UF isn't having a losing season next year.

lol this is just Ox trying to squeeze some entertainment for himself out of this site because all these lazy, shiftless MFers are bringing nothing to the table lately.

No way in hell does our current UF Admin sign off on hiring a deplorable hillbilly like Napier. Fuchs & Co. are mortified by the thought of being in the same room with a good old boy like that. Never happening.
