I knew he would be named starter. That still doesn't make me feel better. I just hope and pray that when he starts Driskeling that Mullen benches him. Its gonna suck if these cupcakes end up with 2-3 interceptions every game. I will be trying my best to pull for Franks.

If Franks has any int in the first game he should never start again....he would have had THREE fall camps under his belt, if hadn’t learned to not throw 98 mph fastballs to TE 5 yds up field, then he never will!!!

You people really want to see a statue try to run the option? And a guy who threw under 50% and two easy ints in the spring game? whatever.

Franks was always starting. At this point Id like to see Trash on the field just for the entertainment value.

Very minute difference. Trask isn't an airhead though.
you don't know that. You haven't seen him with an actual pass rush ever. No one has. He hasn't played since middle school.

You guys sit around begging for Trash, Jacob Guy, Provancha and every other walk-on quarterback. frankly for once I wish you just got to see them after they took a few helmets in the chest.

I'm not even sure that Nick Sproles won't be a better backup. He runs reasonably well and they moved him from runningback back to quarterback. and I was really impressed going back and looking at kylan Johnson running the option in high school.

something will work out.

Mullen felt like he had to put Chris leak on the field for obvious reasons. you can't bench and all SEC quarterback because he doesn't fit your offense. I doubt he feels that kind of pressure this time to play either frash or trash.

While I will probably always believe Trask is a better passer than Franks, I never have said I thought he was an SEC caliber QB. My main reason for wanting him to play at all is to watch you have the meltdown of your life.

Does Franks have the capacity to read a defense, go through a couple of reads, and take what is open?

FIFY. This takes what the defense gives you talk is loser talk that was never around when UF had good offenses. You ran your stuff and exploited where you put the defense in a bad position. If you take what they give you, you punt 3 plays later.

My take on Franks is that he could not read defenses very well when mainly asked to in passing situations. In the Mullen offense the QB has to read the defense often in running, ie option plays and still has to read the defense in passing plays.

So Franks better have had the light come on in terms of decision making and the speed of game or an offense that he has the physical tools to run will expose his decision making weaknesses fast.

Give the kid a chance. FFS, he had to play under Butters and Nuss’s tutelage.

In theory I agree. But the essence of the option is going where the defense isn't, or at least trying to over-power them when all else fails. If that isn't "taking what they give you," it's pretty damn close to it. Not to engage in "loser talk," but the halcyon days of Steve Spurrier are long gone. Dazzling them with brilliance has been replaced with blinding them with bullshyt. I'm not as negative as some, obviously, but absolutism is going to avail us nothing at this juncture. We are too far down the food chain these days to insist on a choice between epicurean fare - or total starvation. Like you, I sincerely hope that we can again become the masters of all we survey. IMO, expecting that kind of success this year is unrealistic, and counter-productive to the long-term growth of this program..

The meltdown of my life was when kept a dumazz coach who believed in the complete absence of offense, lost to a fugging 1AA team then had to watch our horsetoothed jackass of an AD tell us he is a great coach and we are keeping him.

Then watched him hire another moron who was barely over .500 in the WAC.

Then another w a losing SEC record.

I will just laugh when Trash gets on the field the same way I laughed at you who thought LDR was the worst ever and we just needed Frash on the field to fix it all.

Trying to picture how any QB (FBS or FCS) could play any worse than Franks did in his last start.

Not true. You hate the kid and hate anyone who is wishing for him to succeed. You would find fault in him if he were to set touchdown records. You will cheer his failure.

I still havent given up on Franks. I think with some good coaching he's got potential. No one looked good on a Mac or Muschamp team
