This is the kind of kid we need in future classes, especially 2020. He's a top 100 overall player, #8 OT in the 2020 class, and is from Orange Park (Jacksonville area). He's being pursued by all the big boys - the CB's in this pic are BS btw:

Jalen Rivers, Oakleaf, Offensive Tackle

You can interpret the CB's as BS, but maybe they're just reflective that he'd like to stay instate?

At this point it's too early to tell. It's only 3 CB's so they are really shots in the dark (the guys that put in CB's are supposed to do it objectively - but some of them are homer's. They keep track of each person's percentages and the writers who have integrity won't just simply put in a CB. So, some writer's have more clout than others).

He's been pushed early by Miami, but it's a sh*t-show down there. Orange Park is about an hour, hour and 15 minutes to Gainesville. I'd really like to secure this kid - and not only for his position, but for his ranking. We all know that perception is reality in the world of recruiting. "UF" really needs to start becoming a name that top 100 kids want to be a part of. I also want at least two 5-stars in this class - just for perception. Hopefully the 5-star becomes a super star, but 5-stars attract other talented kids (look at what UGA is doing, and obviously Alabama).

Well Orange Park is essentially Jacksonville. So I wouldn't get my hopes up at all. We've also lost a lot of recruits from other close areas to Gainesville. Two huge prospects from Lake City, which is a half hour drive. Couple DT's from Newberry when we desperately needed DT's, and Newberry is even closer.

I hear ya! But let's hope this staff tries to take back Jacksonville. I'm sick and tired of losing battles in Jacksonville. We're going hard after the two CB from Trinity (Fred Davis & Miles Brooks).

Shaq Quarterman was the first Oakleaf kid to fall for scUM but he was gone the year before this cat was a freshman. Have to wonder if that is the supposed reason for CB? A pipeline thing? Familiarity?

Yeah but we have the Lakeland trio this year. Next year we have 2 Ocala Vanguard kids. We are slowly taking the state back I hope. Jax isn't a great area for us historically. But we get kids from there. Orange Park is almost halfway between Gville and Jax. So maybe this kid will want to play really close to home.

Orange Park is literally attached to Jacksonville, not half way, it is Jacksonville

Orange Park literally touches Jacksonville at the county line. We've historically owned Jacksonville and I could spend 30 minutes typing the names of Jacksonville kids who were Gators, starting with Tim Tebow. Butters conceded Jacksonville to any school that wanted it in exchange for Randy Specials from south Florida.

Can you imagine the "snake oil shuffle" UM & FSU salespeople have to dance in front of these recruits - a song and dance of lookame don't turn your gaze toward Gainesville. Glad he's CBeed to only in state schools. We need to get this guy for his on-field worth, for his taking back Jax, and for his recruiting magnetism. It'll be great for all to see that UM & FSU made first smooze and the kid just used them as a stepping stones to Gainesville - those 2 schools are stoned there anyway.

Wr’re trending for a lot of the top 50 Florida’s kids. Which is vastly different than this year’s class. We did trend that way last year until Mac imploded.

Mainly all these same kids will be on this list except it will be reset. You’ll see huge jumps from the middle to the top of the list and vice versa.
It will depend on the recruiting salary cap. Once next year gets in full swing we'll know who's really leading.

Historically is exactly when Jax was all-in for Gators. It was a natural spread of orange & blue that blanketed the area. Even when FSU began showcasing UF held it's own with Jax. At some point UF recruiters & HCshould have maintained our decent status - should have fought to counteract the undercurrents. Instead, we let it slide. Still, it's a more natural bond being 90-minutes close with FSU & Miami 5-7 hours away.
