Yeah, this doesn't look good for the future of the sport.

They are down to one insurer. If there is any kind of long term financial drain they'll be forced to self insure. The NFL is facing some serious issues...aging viewership and declining youth participation are HUGE already. Add this in? Ouch.

Mom. It will continue but not at current level, unless they don’t attempt to adjust.

Attendance is going down with all sports, entertainment and even church.

On the injury front, I've said this before...soft helmets and pads.

One issue I see in HS Football is when I played everyone made the team and almost everyone played some...not the case today. Many kids stopped playing and then watching

I hope I don't live long enough to see the day when the main topic in forums is the coaching of the men's soccer coach.

It's pretty much what you would expect when one's masculinity has become an issue in today's society.

It's not the current kids that are suing it's the ones from 60s-80s but I get what you are saying.

I think the current Millennials don't know how to invest 3+ hours in one sitting. They are the insta-bunch. I read an article where shows coming down the pipe were looking into 15 minute snippets versus hour long shows. Tells you a lot.

Billionaire owners fixing to experience their own bubble? Seems unlikely, but who knows. From my perspective, declining viewership, declining attendance, and lagging interest for the younger crown doesn't bode well. It wouldn't break my heart to see these crazy salaries, which we pay for one way or another, come back to reality. I watch maybe one or two games a month, and only a quarter or two of a game.. All these SOBs are doing for me is increasing my cable bill.

The bell will toll when negotiated contracts for NFL Cable viewership suddenly go in the toilet. It will also be interesting to see what spots for the Super Bowl go for.

Screw em.

And another thought. If the same thing happens to College Cable contracts, schools who have gone all in on facility wars are going to go OH ****.

Set weight limits per position. OL max at 250, DL at 240, RB at 195 etc...I'm guessing injuries may go down.

I've had that thought for a long time. A return to the good ol' days. FAT (pun intended) chance.

Have they ever done a study on cardiovascular disease for retired lineman? Bet it ain't good.

All we need now is a prolonged players strike to drive away the rest of the Sunday drunk Northern crowd(NFL's main fanbase) away from the game.....

The biggest problem is a lot of younger generation are homo's that don't have Dad's that make them watch football all weekend while they're growing up....In my house I was expected to watch football(CFB and NFL) all weekend long or be playing it with neighbor kids or whatever league I was playing in at the time.

Reel in the stupid salaries, ridiculous rules, over exposure and I may become interested again.
