I found this elsewhere:
FWIW - Here is how much the competition paid assistants last year compared to Florida...
Ohio State = 7,383,938
Clemson = 6,810,000
LSU = 6,470,000
Georgia = 6,420,000
Alabama = 6,123,723
Florida State = 5,715,000
Tennessee = 5,675,000
Oklahoma = 5,085,000
Florida = 4,855,000
Before everyone freaks out, I think there are a couple things to keep in mind...
1) Since it was his first year as a true assistant, we only had to pay C-Rob $90k. I suspect he'll be more around $200k next year. Also, as some have mentioned, we saved $200k with Tennessee paying part of Warren's buyout. Taking those things into consideration quickly puts us over the $5 million threshold.
2) Some of the teams at that top of that list (Ohio State, Georgia, and Alabama) had the most staff turnover (for various reasons), and at some of the highest paid positions. If money meant everything, Georgia and Alabama would almost never lose a coach.
At the end of the day, I do think Stricklin needs to open up the check book a bit though, especially at two critical positions like DL and CB. And I think he will if it means getting the right guys. He's already proven with the upcoming facility upgrades that he knows what it takes to compete at the highest level, and I think that'll show with the raises and hires we make this offseason.
