I hesitate to even say this, because I can't remember and I hate when people make the comparison ... but ... <wincing>didn't Percy have issues in high school that wasn't all his fault?</wincing> ... :run:

We all knew recruiting was a weakness. Why do you continually act surprised?
just as I knew that Foley would destroy the program, I still didn't realize how thoroughly he would do it.

did you really imagine us being a four win program? regularly?

or a program that struggles to finish not just in the top 3 in recruiting? Or even in the top 10 ? The flagship pf Florida? Cant even land Florida talent?

Trying and failing to pry Vandy, Cowbell or Indiana's plan C recruits from them?

Yes, I knew he was a garbage recruiter woth a mediocre staff but I didn't know he was this bad. I never imagined anyone could be this bad at the University of Florida.

Nope, sure didn’t. I was under the impression that Foley understood basic economics but it appears he gravitates to athletic socialism instead of capitalism - instead of allowing the cash cow to prosper which would free up some scratch for the other programs he took all the money from the high earner and redistributed it to others that didn’t pull their weight. UAA seems completely surprised that football is faltering as its coffers continue to be “taxed” for non-producers. Sad really.

I don’t think top 3 annually is realistic in today’s connected environment but top 10? Absolutely. We don’t even have get the majority of top Florida talent to achieve that. Maybe with SOS applying pressure, CDM will continue shaking up recruiting (he hasn’t hired staff, at least).

Others like to analyze who the tallest midget in the class is. To each his own. We've recruited at best 9-win-and-a-bowl game talent. Nobody can win a championship with our talent. A single high 4 star who's a perfect fit isn't going to change that.
I prefer to do something about the shytty recruiting, bytch. Maybe it will inspire someone to hire a banner to fly over the stadium that say "It's the recruiting, Stupid". If Mullen wasn't a likeable guy (in spite of what itraz has written on bathroom walls) we'd be screaming bloody murder about this class. Florida State is the laughing stock of college football and they're ranked higher? Are you kidding me. Mullinz and Co are doing better than Butters but that's a very low bar. We should be battling bama and UGAy for recruits, FSU, LSU, and Miami shouldn't stand a chance against us. And we can't land a single fcvking 5*, we should land 2 in an average year. Winning isn't going to fix recruiting. Facilities aren't going to fix recruiting. Closers are the only thing that fixes recruiting. Mullen needs to make some changes and fast or we might as well start a new coach search.

No disagreement here. At a minimum, need to trim the fat. Looking at English, Knox. Others too but I doubt he’d do that much in an offseason.

I don't see any reason why we would expect recruiting to start trending much better at this point. FSU and Miami are both as bad as they have been in the last 30 years, and we have not taken advantage at all.

Just to be clear, let's lay it out plain. Make a clean choice and tell us your preference. Would you rather have a team that finishes in the top three and a recruiting class that finishes between twenty and twenty-five, or would you prefer a recruiting class in the top three and a team ranked between twenty and twenty-five?
No B. S. about how you can't finish in the top three without recruiting classes in the top three.....la de dah. That is your choice, now man up and make it.

I would prefer a blow job from Gal Gadot if we're venturing into fantasy land.
Or to put $10 in a CD and have it grow to $1,000,000.
Seriously where are you going with that?

Didn't think you'd man up
He can live in fantasy lamd if you can.

Innthe real world Mullinz has never finished higher than top 3 in the SEC East (or SEC West) with his barely top 20 recruiting, and struggles to beat other 3 star garbage teams to do it.

So, Gal Gadot blow job for you AR?

Good post....and yet, you'll still have homers pop in here just to whistle past the graveyard with their silly comments. It amazes me how many people are happy with regular 3 and 4 loss seasons and no shot - at all - at any sort of championship. These same homers talked as much sh*t about Mark Richt's UGA program (a perennial 9 win program) as anybody. But, don't look now.....

We all know Mullen has work to do on the recruiting trail. He'll either fix it - or he'll be gone. If it's the latter, the only question is; how long does he get? I think he was dealt a super sh*tty hand and will get at a minimum 5 years (unless he bangs a co-ed on Fuchs desk and there's a viral video). So I have hope. I saw him at a speaking engagement this winter and I'm certain he is 'all in' on this program. These coaches are smart, they talk to their peers, and usually make adjustments. I'm going to assume that he knows something ain't working. Let's hope he gets it fixed.

CDM is a reasonably good coach and a reasonably bad recruiter. Why keep whining about it? You guys are like a kid with a scab on a partially healed sore-- you just can't stop picking at it. Maybe Ox should institute an ID system whereby we could identify posters as either"football fans" or "recruiting fans". Then these kinds of posts would be more understandable.
