How can you not like this kid?

You visited Florida a few weeks ago for the LSU game. What was that experience like for you?

Ivey: I’ve been to Florida so much it was nice to finally get to see a night game. It was great to see that and to see how hard they fought and how they have come together as a team, especially with the o-line, they have been rebuilding from last year.

Does Will Muschamp’s job being in limbo play a factor in your decision?

Ivey: Not really. I still have Florida high on my list, but I’m not really affected by any coaching changes at all.

Has Muschamp talked to you about his situation?

Ivey: No, not really and I haven’t really asked about it because it’s not going to affect my decision at all.

When you make your final choice, what will be the main factors in determining where you will commit?

Ivey: I just want to make sure it’s the right choice. Can I picture myself being at that school for four years? Just being comfortable at the school I choose. At the end of the day it's not always about football and winning and losing, it’s about being comfortable.

Will early playing time be a factor?

Ivey: It really don’t matter about early playing time. Either way you are going to have to fight for a spot. It’s all about working hard. I really don’t listen to the coaches who say, "If you come here you’ll play early." That’s not really guaranteed. You’ll still have to come in and work for it.

There's a kid looking at things the right way. Commit to a school, not a coach.

Agree 100%. There's such a small probability that you'll have the same coaches all 4 years you're in school. Head coach change or not, there will be new faces and different expectations. You better want to play for the school because that's the only constant.

Sounds like this class could be some what salvaged with a decent hire

This kid has great perspective, wish all recruits had this mindset.

@JamieNewberg: STAT OF THE DAY- 27 (5 &4 STAR) recruits from the Fla. are committed & NONE are committed to the #florida #gators

If that is true that is crazy.

Don't look at Scout much but thought that was crazy myself when I saw it posted.

Rivals has the same - no 4* or 5* recruits "committed" to UF in their top 100.

It wasn't a knock on the argument at all. Just rarely/never see that

Yeah, agree. It will be hard to dig us out of this mess. The right coaching hire can change things quickly in my opinion.

Development and utilization of players is essential to success. I see less of both but especially coaches that insist on only one way rather than the way that maximizes performance.

I think its cool now that black coaches like Tomlin can become retreads like the old days. Used to be they would hire an old coach over and over before a Tomlin got a chance..............Does Cignetti get some attention by the NFL. Anyone watching the Oklahoma game tonight

  • gatordad3 gatordad3:
Tomlin may just take one year off before coaching again
  • gatordad3 gatordad3:
Would this require negotiations since Tomlin had another year on his contract?
