Travis McGriff used to aggravate my wife by pulling her hair in 6th grade English class. I saw him at the airport about a decade ago. Pretty short. But his calves were massive.

So you thought about defending your wife's honor and kick this short guys ass but then seen the size of his calf muscles and backed off? Probably the right move, plus you was in an airport.

:lmao:

That wasn't a very structured post by me. He was little though. It's hard to see how he had a million yards against USCe.

I met Rex Grossman one year as well. He looked like he was made of marshmallows.

I was in the 8th grade with Travis at Ft. Clarke Middle School. He was part of my home room, and would show up late every time and claim he "forgot" about it. The teacher never did anything.

The McGriff family wasn't born with height, and they all have the same strut. Was on the same High School Football team with Travis and then later his younger brother Brit. My Brother was in their sisters class.

Usually just the signing bonus

If he has an achilles tear & is "out" for the entire season, he'll also get his first year (minimum wage I'm sure) salary. Actually a lucky break for him (although I'm sure he doesn't know it), because he would have been cut in camp.

Don't need to to return kicks. How bad is his injury? Lots of teams could use a kick return threat with speed. I can think of one who lost the super bowl last year that had a good kick returner the year before when they won it all. ;) Who the hell are the raiders to cut him after drafting him 4 weeks ago? That is nuts. Let him rehab his injury then they may have something. Oakland won't be good for years so what was the rush?

With a 53 man roster & only 46(ish) dressing on game day, very few NFL teams can afford to keep a guy as a return specialist.

He is getting the amount of his salary as a Post June 1st cut according to what I read. He had a signing bonums fo $77,012 according to his cap numbers.

Especially since the NFL is slowly getting rid of the kickoff.

If no other team picks Debose up I think they will be on the hook for his salary this season. Sometimes they do injury settlements but his would likely be near a season's full rookie pay if his injury is pretty serious. I think that is what I read somewhere happens if its an injury that would have sidelined someone for most of the season to rehab. But I also remember something about lower picks sometimes getting half of their pay if placed on injured reserve in their first couple of seasons. Not sure if they can go below the league minimum or not or if that might be a standard contract item in rookie contracts to get half pay when on IR the whole season.

No it said something about like that in an article I read a couple of years ago. The only thing I couldn't remember was if the lower round pick only got reduced if he was above the min. salary already or if that 50% cut usually in the contract applied to all of them even at min. salary.

Update:
The Oakland Raiders officially placed seventh-round pick WR/KR Andre Debose on injured reserve Thursday after he cleared waivers.
———-
The Oakland Raiders officially waive/injured 2015 seventh-round pick WR/KR Andre Debose on Wednesday, according to the NFL transactions release.
This move comes after the team signed veteran WR/KR Trindon Holliday to a contract on Wednesday.
Assuming Debose clears waivers, the Raiders could place him on the reserve/injured list in the coming days.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Debose will free up $377,241 in available cap space while creating $77,012 in dead money.
During his four years at Florida, Debose caught 30 passes for 540 yards receiving and four touchdowns. He primarily served as the team’s kick and punt return totaling 2,111 kick return yards and another 420 punt return yards to go along with five total touchdowns.

Dude could never figure out a college playbook. Zero chance he can understand an NFL one.

It is hard to figure out a playbook if one never opens it. At least that was Muschamp's early criticism of him.
