He’s probably one of the better quiet hires of this carousel, believe it or not. They obviously were getting shot down by guys like Norvell and Kiffin. He’s probably at the level they can get right now, and is a really good coach who can recruit. I still think Arkansas is a really good job that gets overlooked way too often. But with what they can actually pull right now, it’s not a bad hire.

Arkansas should have hired a Texas guy (somebody with strong Texas ties). They can't recruit to save their life over there. They're lucky to sign three or four 4-stars per cycle. Pittman can recruit, but what are the limits w/ his background? I don't know. He'd be smart to go raid Baylor, Houston, Texas Tech, A&M, Texas' staffs for his assistants. His first two years are going to be rough. Morris depleted that roster, they had nearly 30 transfers in just two years (mostly duds, but still leaves the roster depleted because of the 25 initial counters rule).

What makes people think Pittman is going to be such a great recruiter at Arkansas? He might have been a pretty good recruiter at Georgia but he was recruiting as an assistant to the Georgia program with Kirby Smart as the head coach. Now he will have to recruit, or depend on his new assistants to recruit, to the Arkansas program with Sam Pittman as the head coach. Skill players with the NFL in their sites don't want to come to a program headed by a 58 year old overweight former line coach.

Arkansas has had John L. Smith, Bret Bielema, Chad Morris and now Hog Pittman. What could possibly go wrong?

Exactly. He got kids to come to UGA despite have a tard as coach. Imagine what he could do with Smart out of the picture?

That would be a very good hire if Gus lets him run his offense. Plus, Bama fans are probably hating life right now - he can bring the style of offense that beats Bama.

This is bizarre. Does Malzahn even have an OC? For what?
Agreed. Unlike Dabo, Malzahn calls his plays.:grin::grin:

Still, Morris is a bright mind and brings knowledge of Clemson’s offense - which shreds Saban’s defense. Malzahn is looking for staying power and bringing in Clemson’s influence is as good an approach as any.

Brad Davis should send Butters a care package for launching his career (North Texas to UF to two more SEC schools). He went from making $80k/year to $300k+.

You’d think he must be at least decent if Pittman is bringing him on. Pittman knows OL.

Agreed. I think it speaks very highly of Davis. Pittman is considered one of the best (if not THE best) OL coaches in the country. He's also the best OL recruiter in the country...which then makes coaching OL a lot easier, having all that talent to work with. He probably sits back and laughs at our OL room.

Arkansas: Sam Pittman’s deal with the Razorbacks is for five-years and starts at $3 million annually

Arkansas got off cheap here. Missouri is paying Drinkwitz $4mil, $1 million more than Odom made - for a coach with 1 year of head coaching experience.

If any of you have young kids who aren't sure what they want to do for a living, encourage them to become a P5 football coach!

You just know that Crete’s is drooling over the prospect of that coaching staff. Arky is gonna be boring to watch but they’ll be big along the OL.

If a coach cant wipeout a buffett in a single sitting, Crete isn't interested.

Correction: Davis made $510K at Missouri last year. He better send Butters an even better care package. Hell, Butters is only make $600K at CMU!

Yea but Mizzou didn’t win anything. Butters is dominating his division again. @Gator Fever would think his salary is a travesty.
