So I'm thinking of going to my 1st away game and I'm looking at the SC game. Of the people who have traveled to this stadium, what is the experience like, how were their fans towards you? Any advice on hotel or the surrounding area. Thanks and Go Gators.

Son #1 said the fans were awesome when he went to the last game in Columbia.

      Don't accentuate your ass.

Their fans will already be looking at it so beware.

Been to WB a couple times. Last visit was the game in 13'. Kelvin had a good day rushing
for over 100 and I think 2 scores. Overall it was a typical Muschamp game. Morningwood
threw 5 passes I think the entire game, and we ended up blowing a 2nd half lead with
the dagger being Trey trying to hit a streaking Leon Orr down the seam on a 4th down fake.
Classic Muschamp idiocy asking a defensive tackle to catch a ball with the game on the line .
A buddy of mine has SC season tickets, and lives in Columbia. So I can't be much assistance in terms of hotels because I always stay at his place. Overall
the stadium isn't much , though the night games are pretty cool with the sandstorm nonsense.
You'll encounter a few obnoxious drunks. The coed's are decent but don't come up to par with
other SEC schools, which exemplifies the gameday experience in Columbia.

Wife and I went a decade ago, don't recall the exact game, but stadium was empty by halftime as we were killing them. As such, my experience may be off center. However, anywhere in town, heading into the game, during the game, and afterward, we experienced no negative issues. We weren't 'in their face' with gear, but we had enough on to leave no question who we were there to see. All in all, both of us very much liked the experience.

Highly recommend eating at California Dreaming, great atmosphere to watch other games earlier, and great food.

Probably our easiest road game this season, so that’s a plus.

That place blows. Boring city. Stadium is a dump and is located in the industrial dumps.

Everything you said is exactly right. I was there in 2015 and the stadium was nothing but a huge pile of concrete with little to no personality whatsoever.
I believe they are renovating this summer so they may at least buy a can of paint or something
There are a few good places to eat/drink at five points but that is nowhere near the stadium

There are a few good places to eat in just about every city. I live down the road from Cola in Charleston. Nobody like Cola around here. Most people who live in Cola don't like it.

Wiliiams-Brice is right next to the State Fairgrounds and in the middle of a drab industrial area. Tailgating is weak as hell unless you have connections to get you near the stadium.

Just be sure when their ignorant fans yell "Florida sucks" at you that you remind them their winningest coach played, coached, and won SEC and a natty at UF. Their fans are tiring of Duncechump at a rapid rate, by the time we play them, tickets on the secondary market should be plentiful and cheap, I'd wait before you purchase any.

I rode my bike to the '07 game in Columbia where Timmy scored 18 touchdowns, I believe. The posters above are right. The stadium itself is nice enough, but it is in a crappy part of town with little to do nearby. I wore Gator gear and never had a problem with any Cock fans. In all, it was a meh experience. I doubt I'd ever return, but I'm glad I've ticked W-B off the bucket list of stadiums to see.

A pointer, if you go: it is easy to get tickets that are too close to the field, where your view is obscured by players and other sideline personnel - much more so than any other stadium I can recall. When in doubt, buy tickets that are further up. You'll see more of the field and save a few sheckels.

Indeed, the first 10 rows on the sidelines are flat with no elevation, get up above row 20

Been several times--have to echo the prior comments that the stadium itself is far away from the campus/bar districts, so not a ton to do unless you have a group tailgating.

Stadium is ok..just a bit unremarkable overall. The last 2 times I went, my younger cousin was at coed there and she showed us around. 2nd trip, we ended up tailgating at the frat lot and there was an appreciable amount of Gator fans from frats and sororities there.

As far as going out...depends on what you're looking for. 5 points is where the college crowd goes out at and has tons of good bars in a walkable district. If you're slightly older and want more of a relaxed pace to the evening, downtown has an area called the Vista with a local brewery, World of Beer, and some nicer restaurants/bars with less students and more of the locals.

Have to say: South Carolina is one of the most enjoyable road games I've ever been to, so you're picking a pretty "safe" road trip to start with. The fans are always friendly, win or lose, and aren't obnoxious--never had any problems in the 4 times I've been. Historically, it's usually over Veteran's day weekend/the Marine Corps Birthday, so usually wear a Marine hat and the locals aren't shy about offering drinks on that basis alone. Even ran into a former Intel colleague of mine the last time we played there, so that was kinda funny timing.

Miami is technically an away game. I think I'd do that. Atmosphere will be great.
