Anyone ever wonder how odd it is our stadium is named after this odd character

. My uncle loved that show.
But seriously, my ex was Ben Hill's dietician when he was sick in Shands many years ago and his father Ben Hill Griffen Sr. was a pall bearer at my great grand mother's funeral. I finally lost the clip from the obituary,.......years ago.

You can see the old tennis and 3 wall raquetball courts in the back there. I remember in the 70s when those 3 wall courts were full and even had people waiting to play.

Damn I miss it. I haven't been in 8 years. Coincidentally it coincides with how long we've been bad.

Those courts were my first experience with racquetball (and handball). We didn't have computers, smartphones or social media to occupy our time, so we sought visceral relief from the rigors of class. I can't say I cared much for chasing the ball out of bounds, though.

I remember playing in a softball league on the ROTC field on the other side of North-South Drive across from Florida Field. There was always something going on sports-wise to get involved in.
