I think Speith is going to win this thing and keep us interested as we watch him try to close out the Grand Slam.

As far as Tiger, I think most everybody knows where I stand but for the newbies, I'll repeat myself. He won't tie or break Nicklaus' record of 18 majors and he will be lucky to win one more major in his career but that's about the maximum of his upside. As far as this weekend, I don't see Tiger winning this.

Dustin Johnson in the lead at -7. Retief Goosen and Zach Johnson among 5 at -6. Spieth and Oostihuzen at -5.

Phil Mickelson is off to a strong start, -3 after only 5 holes. Snedeker - not so much, he was +1 for the day.

Tiger? He's at +4, tied with Tom Watson for 141st. That tells you all you need to know.

DJ is such a long hitter that he was almost hitting some greens on par 4s.

They are farther north than Seattle - still staying light out here until just after 9, then it slowly fades away. But yeah, it's really tough to follow a golf ball at dusk - I finished a tourney in HS one time and we played the last hole not knowing where our shots went - we had to guess by how it felt coming off the club

They really wanted Tom to get a good send off with a crowd on 18. Since it's his last Open, the number of people there this afternoon vs how many would've been there at 7am is important. He's an adopted icon there & I'm happy that he was allowed to finish. He deserves all the accolades they offer up.

BTW, I think this is only the last Open of his career, not the last round.
