Didn't he have a very large contract? Probably just priced himself out of Cleveland, not a bad thing.I can't link twitter on this computer, but he was just released. Apparently they were trying to trade him and didn't find any takers. Very surprising. Hopefully he lands on a team that wins more than 2 or 3 games a year....
Well, we don't need to dump Bortles yet but he might find himself on the IR for the season.Browns are smarter than Coughlin and the jags front office.
They get rid of a quality player because of the cap. We won't dump a 3rd string caliber QB in Bortles that is making 19.5 million.
This is a crazy year with no early cut day and teams carrying about 90 players until the lone cut day to 53. I am sure he will be picked up once all that plays out Saturday afternoon.
I believe that money is also an issue. If someone picks him up do they also have to accept his contract? If so he might not get a job, if not he surely will get an offer.
Some of those NFL coaches don't understand the Circle of Trust.Had issues with multiple coaching staffs... they have been trying to trade him for weeks. I'm surprised they didn't wait until closer to the cut dead line.
