Mac will tailor this offense to the players strengths, particularly this first year.
He has no choice at this moment, as well as design an offense with a severe shortage of offensive linemen and inexperienced ones at that. I don't expect to see the full Mac attack until year 3. It will take that long to get the players and have them learn his system.

His spread offense kicked butt both years at CSU. Their offense went from 102nd in yards per game in 2012 to 25th in yards per game in 2013 his first season there.

Nope, just ask gator fever. Mac's just gonna chill on the sidelines and nussmeier is gonna line the offense up in the power I and run it 70 percent of the time.

59.1% of the time if past behavior points to future behavior.

McElwain is harder to get a read on. It was close to 50/50 at CSU where he had a real good offense but I think he ran it closer to 60% of the time at Bama when he was the OC there so that shows adaptability.

He definitely was able to turn things around kind of quick at CSU, but it's a different animal going against SEC defenses.

Dude, that 102nd ranked 2012 offense was Mac's.

He coached there from 2012-2014.

It was his first year, he inherited a horrible team.

Yep I was thinking he was there only 2 years for some reason. Does anyone know if he was running mostly pro set stuff there in 2012 before going mostly spread in 2013 and 2014? I saw someone saying that at another site. He had the same OC all 3 years.

Gruden said he ran prostyle at CSU all along.

I'm not getting into it. Prostyle and spread are useless tags. What does NE run? Spread? Prospread? Prospread with occasional power formations?

What about Holgerson vs. Rodriguez vs. Meyer? All spread? One is 85% pass, one is 60% run, and the other runs the old 50s veer? Rodriguez has vertical routes and that monster caveman FB. Holgerson and Meyer have virtually no vertical routes. Still all "the spread"? Texas under Mack Brown, ran "the spread." Tressel ran "the spread." 90 percent of the team in college run "the spread". They look nothing alike and are defended completely differently. How is classifying it as "the spread" helpful in any way?

Maybe he will transition us next season to something like he ran at CSU in 2013 and 2014 like some think. Found a little video from their 2012 season and they were definitely taking snaps from under center a lot while almost being exclusively shotgun in 2013 and 2014.
