I know we pop up a new thread about every commit we get, or lose, and there are numerous :panic: posts about how it's only another 3-star, or lower. Several come back that many of the top ranked recruits are holding out to make their decisions (as is their right). Just to put perspective on this, I've gone back and looked. According to 247, the top 10 classes at this point in time have a total of eight 5-star kids committed with only LSU having more than one. Compare that to 247 listing a total of twenty-seven 5-star kids int he 2016 class and only thirteen of them committed at this point. Bottom line, plenty of big stars still out there and uncommitted. Until we're running out of scholarships with desired 4 and 5-star kids still out there with an interest in us, I'm not going to get worried.

Reality is we have taken a lot of 3 stars. We aren't bama or the Florida of not to long ago where we could load up on predominately 4*-5* players. Until we get back to that level we will be taking what appears to be a higher amount of 3 stars than we are used to.

Also, the roster was running way below our scholarship numbers so we have the room and need to bring in extra bodies.

Good to know. Although, according to the page you linked, the top 10 classes at this point only have 6 5-star players committed. To find 8, you have to count the top 22 classes and in the top 50 classes, there are 9 5-star recruits. However, if there are 9 5-star rated recruits in the top 50 classes, there are more than 8 committed recruits. :dunno:

Am I reading something wrong? ...or are you?

Either way, we need a chart. :peabody:

We've loaded up on plenty of 3* so far but we have the room to take them. I'm confident that Mac is good at evaluating talent and sees something in these guys. If we also get some top players, which we should later in the year, we should end up with a top 10 class possibly.

A lot of the star ratings will change as players go through their senior year. A lot of the commits will de-commit and go to a different school. How we do all depends on what Mac puts on the field.

Now, I go there and it shows nine 5-stars in the top 10, with UGA having 2 and LSU having 3. They must be updating the table:

Even if we flip Bruce from MIA, they drop out of the top 10 and we stay ranked 14 (as of now). I'm not worried about class ranking, or stars at this point. I'll be interested somewhat on how many stars and where we rank come NSD, but mostly I'll be interested on what JMac does with the current freshman as that will have a heavy influence on the 2016 kids.

Former USF quarterback Marquel Blackwell will serve as a quality control specialist under UF offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier. Blackwell threw for 9,108 yards and 57 touchdowns, while rushing for 1,235 yards and 20 touchdowns from 1999-2002.
I assume I'm not the only one who had never heard of @coachblack10.

Law, I hadn't heard of him either, but then again I don't twitter so I wouldn't have a way to figure it out either.

Maybe JMac is deploying his stealth staffing? Hire people off the radar to do our bagman drops?

The 2015 class, Mac's first, wasnt very highly rated. But it might turn out to be a helluva class. Especially on both sides of the line of scrimmage and RB. If Calllaway is as good as advertised, we could be looking back at the 2015 class as the one that turned it around. I'm not ready panic about 2016.

With all we're hearing about some of those freshmen, you could very well be correct.
