Well, I think everybody and their brother thought it was Chip Kelly. And to be fair, the guy's a good offensive mind, just that there's this problem with him being a certifiable nut job (or so he presented himself IMO). The others that looked to be readily attainable, Frost, Norvell, etc., were flashy, but unproven. Taggart? Other than recruiting prowess, not sure what he could bring if he were really available to us. Strong? Great guy, but could we get him and if so, could he put us where we want to be?
It's easy to forecast "8+ boring years of UGA football," but if we get the defense back up to speed by UF standards (and I think we have a good chance to do this maybe easier and quicker than on the other side of the ball), I believe our chances with Mullen improve. We didn't get to where we are overnight and I don't believe we're getting back to the top shortly. We're going to have see if Mullen can first instill some toughness and "want to" along with a more functional offense and, as mentioned, a D that can lock it down. Offense is a little more of a mystery, perhaps, but I want to see what he does with better personnel than ran it at MSU before I cancel Christmas. What he does with the recruiting piece, which you and I have differing opinions on, will be what elevates him or keeps him middling.
