3* can mean many things. You can get stuck as a 3* because you aren't as athletic as you should be, or undersized, or raw and underdeveloped.

I don't know enough about evaluating players to know which kind of 3*s Mullen recruited this year, or how they will perform. But Mullen has a good track record of evaluating and developing good 3* talant.

I have no issues with any of the players Mullen is taking. His 3*s will mostly be solid contributors. These aren't Randy Specials, probably. My issues with Mullen's recruiting is the players he isn't getting -- specifically more high 4* and 5* talent.

White, Whittemore, Pierre, Eguakun, and Marks are the biggest reaches in this class.

I like Marks due to his speed, he put up good stats this year and could be a return specialist as well.

Whittemore should have signed w/ Troy or UAB....but he was offered by Butters early and Mullen honored the commitment. Not sure if he'll ever contribute.

White needs to lose 40+ pounds to ever see the field.

Pierre will likely play, could be a ST's guy or end up transferring. Who knows? But we now have solid LB depth and if he gets pushed down the depth chart he could be a transfer.

Eguakun is a lower rated 3-star OL. He apparently has a "mean streak" and his film is good. We signed a lot of OG's in this class so he will have to battle to get into the 2-deep. He could possibly play DL. He's the smallest OL we signed at 6'3 and under 300lbs.
