From another site. I'd post the link but not sure if it's allowed.

Florida will add some immediate firepower to its backcourt in the form of a graduate transfer, with College of Charleston guard Canyon Barry telling ESPN's Jeff Goodman that he will join the Gators.

Barry is a 6-foot-6 guard who averaged 19.7 points per game for the Cougars last season before a shoulder injury sidelined him for the year after just 13 games. As a graduate transfer, he'll be eligible to play immediately and should bolster a backcourt that returns point guards Kasey Hill and Chris Chiozza, as well as shooting guard KeVaughn Allen.

I like what our new coach is doing with our team

I just read this and was going to post. This is a great pick up for the Gators and White.

FYI... it is OK to post the link or the information as long as it is not from a "paid" site or service

Nice pick up!
I'm assuming he can play right away and he has one year left. Is this correct?

6'6" Guard averaging 20 points? I'd say so.
Projected starters (and backups) - assuming Murph2 is gone at this point
PG - Hill (Chorizo, Allen)
SG - Allen (Hester, Barry)
SG/SF - Barry (Leon, DRob, Stone)
PF - DRob (Leon, Stone, Bassett)
C - Egbunu (Hayes, Gak, Rimmer)

Looks like this team will have a little more versatility this season. The scary thing is that we could easily lose all 5 of those projected starters after next season.
We have a PG and SG committed for 2017 to replace Hill and Barry. We lose Leon for sure after next season, and could lose 2 to 3 more between DRob, Egbunu and Allen. Coach White needs to get another swingman type player that can step out and shoot the 3, and be on some PF and C recruits to help bolster the potential inside losses of DRob and Egbunu after next season.

So he steps into the Finney-Smith role? Looks like a solid lineup...if they stay healthy. It would be nice to get back to the NCAA tournament.

Averaged 20ppg last year but only played in 12 games as he hurt his shoulder and had to sit the remainder of the season.

Still, anytime you can add a player who can average 20, it's a big get.

Also, he shoots free throws under hand like his old man, Rick. Which is no doubt goofy, but I think he shot north of 80% last year doing it (and Rick is in the Hall of Fame), so more power to him.

Naw. DFS was more of a 4 who could play the 3 (or even the 2 in a pinch). DRob, Leon and Stone are more like 3s who are gonna have to play more like a 4 to help replace DFS, our leading rebounder the past 2 years. So DFS was a 4/3 (in college) and Barry is 2/3, IMO.

Here are the Barry stats looked at in many ways including per 40 minutes, advanced, per game, total etc:

http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/canyon-barry-1.html

He has not been a knock down shooter from the arc. Maybe he will be better with few shots and less pressure on him to be the main scorer?

I see the depth chart now as:

PG: Hill, Chiozza,
SG: Allen, Barry, Hester
SF: Leon, Stone
PF: Robinson, Bassett,
C: Egbunu, Hayes, Rimmer, Gak

I see the rotation being Hill, Chiozza, Allen, Barry, Leon, Robinson, Egbunu, Hayes and maybe Rimmer. I could see Stone getting in the mix, but we do not know about him yet.

I see the minutes as something like:

PG: Hill (25), Chiozza (15)
SG: Allen (25), Barry (15)
SF: Leon (25), Barry (10), Robinson (5)
PF: Robinson (20), Hayes (20)
C: Egbunu (25), Hayes (5), Rimmer (10)

Of course injuries and frosh surprises could change this .

His dad just said on the radio that canyon's 6'6" with a standing 40 inch vertical. Maybe he's as athletic as his older brother Brent.

Barry starts over Leon and Stone will probably start at the 4 to begin the year (Drob recovering) and maybe the whole year.
