ITS A DREAM COME TRUE!!!!!!!!! Please!

:bananadance:

I have been this upset about the thought a coach getting hired away since Kansas started sniffing around Charlie Triple Cheeseburger.

He'd be stupid to take that job. If he holds out, he'll get better offers.

I hope he doesn't leave but it's nice to have Shannon on board.

Though I agree, UCF is becoming a better job. It wouldn't be long until that will be a pretty good job because of the amount of talent coming out of the state and that area with the scholarship restrictions, some kids will want to go there.

I don't mean to paint the UCF job as terrible. It can be argued it is a better job than Miami. Still, Mac is going to be around awhile. If Geoff continues to do well, he'll get offers from higher tier programs.

again, fully agree. I understood and didn't believe you were. Just saying, the UCF most of us grew up with, is not longer there. Due to the shift in talent, it's going to become a good job.

Guess I've missed a couple of posts because I was not aware that so many of you disliked Collins as our D-coordinator. :dunno:

Personally, I hope he stays. I like our defense, he knows the area and the conference, and it appears he likes to recruit.

IMO Shannon would be an upgrade at DC. UCF is not a top tier school, but they're gaining some ground and usually a coordinator has to start at a smaller school to prove he can run the whole shabang before getting a shot with a higher tier program. I know there have been a few exceptions to this rule in recent years , but I imagine others have learned from that mistake. It's a great opportunity for Collins. He should grab it while the opportunity is there.

There's too much competition for recruits down here to make UCF a quality, stepping-stone type job for a successful DC or OC from a top SEC school like Florida. Strong got a much better Louisville job. Mustank landed Florida as a DC from Texas. Dan Quinn goes DC to Seahawks. All far better than 0-8 UCF.

Like maheo said, if you think Mac is the real deal, stick around and far better options will open up. That said, if he does go, I'm good with Shannon at DC.

Looks like most of us share the same opinion in that we already have a serviceable DC on the staff (Shannon) who has had success as a DC in the past (sucked as a head coach though) at a high D-1 level. Also an excellent recruiter. I don;t think we dislike Collins, but I don;t think he is anything special. I will fall in love with a DC when that said DC can teach basic safety play!

Me either....

I haven't seen a list yet of possible candidates for that job. I'm not sure why people would think that UCF is not a good job for a first time head coach. Look at the assistants/coordinators from last year's group that are now first time head coaches. Not many were offered P5 jobs (those went to proven head coaches): Houston, SMU, Colorado State, Troy, Tulsa. Kansas & Pitt are the only P5 jobs that former coordinators/1st time head coaches got....

I can't see anyone wanting the face of their program to be a guy that wears his hat crooked all the time. He looks like he rides the short bus.

Coordinators aren't getting many power5 opportunitys here lately. If he's offered, he'll take it. UCF would be a good opportunity for a young coach looking to get a major head coaching job. In a fertile recruiting area, they play in a weak conference so there's going to be plenty winnable games. Two good years at ucf and a power5 team will be calling if he has them winning. Look at guys like Chad Morris and Phillip Montgomery, they were great coordinators and had to settle on jobs lesser than ucf. Kirby smart is still waiting on a power 5 job offer. Schools just arent hiring coordinators these days. So I totally disagree that he should wait for a better job offer.

I was so surprised to see Law was so happy....right....Collins is a better D coordinator than Chump and I think its good for us if he stays. This team needs stability and I hope he waits another year.
