Well, Collins is a decent DC but far from the best. We have people on staff to replace him and we might be better off. His coverages were very questionable at critical times. I never saw him as a NC coach. Now we need to fire Nuss and find a new Oline coach while we are at it.

Since this entire staff is likely to be gone within two years, a good recruiter is far more important than a good coach right now. Promoting from within is an awful decision, because they've already all proven they can't recruit.

Whatever you think "should" happen w/ this head coach....the opposite is likely to occur. I'd expect Shannon to be promoted and the only way he's not is if he moves on to another job. Hope that we get a stud, young D coach to replace Collins duties (as Shannon will probably continue coaching the LBs). But, as you mentioned...this staff will be gone within two years so does it really matter that much?

How does it hurt us? It's not like this class is a world beater. Bring in somebody with Florida ties and next year's class should be markedly better on defense.
