My confused father story. I tell it every year.

He was a pilot in the Army Air Corp. When the Army Air Corp became the Air Force he went in the Air Force reserves and retired as a bird colonel. As a civilian he worked for the Navy and retired as a GS-16 (it's called something else now). Every now and then a service academy would play Duke. He graduated from Duke.

He was very confused when it came time to cheer for someone.

Editor's note: Even though dad was born in Georgia he hated the Dogs. No confusion there.
Just a technical correction. Your father was in the US Army Air Forces (USAAF) if he served in WWII. The Army Air Corps actually still exists, I think, as a component of the US Army. And your dad paved the way for guys like me to serve in the US Air Force.

"If the Army and the Navy ever look on heaven's scenes...they will find the streets are guarded by the United States Marines."

But since Canoe U sends officers to the Marines too...Go Navy, beat Army.

I love you Navy peeps for 51 weeks out of the year, but not this week. Yall gonna get rolled as we go get that Commanders Cup this Saturday.

As such every year, Army uniforms are sexy AF and better looking than Navy uniforms. 3rd Infantry Division, Rock of the Marne, is the flavor. I was in 3ID two times in my career and deployed with them as part of the network engineer team in 2012 to Afghanistan.

3ID Song:

I wouldn't give a bean, to be a fancy pants marine.
Id rather be a dog face soldier like I am.
I wouldnt trade my old ODs for any navy dungarees,
for Im the walking pride of uncle sam.
On Army posters that I read it says be all that you can,
so theyre tearing me down to build me over again.
Im just a dog face soldier, with a rifle on my shoulder,
I eat raw meat for breakfast every day.
So feed me ammunition, keep me in the 3rd Division,
your dog face soldier is a okay!

My oldest son was in the 3rd ID 2003-2010 or so. He was a Cav Scout - air cavalry I think - stationed at Ft. Stewart. 2 long tours in Iraq totaling about 27 months. He switched to recruiting and is now at brigade level. Just got his 20 years in October and will likely stick around a few more. Super proud of him.

My brother and his wife are both retired Navy chiefs. My sister did 5 years in the Navy and her husband did 10 active plus 10+ in reserves. Super proud of them, too.

But that’s my boy… GO ARMY!

Thanks for pointing that out. I get heat for not wanting our $7 million head coach to look like a twice-divorced homeless middle school science teacher, and neteng gets away with talking about sexy uniforms?

He's known as poonteng on the other message boards.
