Had issues with mine ever since I got it. Damn thing overheats, freezes up, won't pair with my cell phone. Then when I call tech support I get some girl from India. One thing I will say about it tho is it is indestructable, I just threw it against a wall and it is still F'ed up.

I’m still using my GoPro 2. Never saw a reason to upgrade, still works great.

From what I have read none of the earlier GoPros have the issues the Hero 6 does. In their defense I did spend an hour on the phone with their tech support today and they are replacing my camera. Hopefully the replacement will be better but after what I have read online I'm not holding my breath.

Got some Chinese cheapo/knockoff on Amazon for $35 that is an exact replacement and an entire box of every accessory ever made for $12. That thing has worked flawlessly for years.

Not a Hero 6 the six has only been out for a year. Earlier models had to be in a waterproof case, the Hero 6 and new Hero 7 are fully water proof. Also have improved image stabilization. I think the water proofing is probably behind the overheating issue. Just a guess.

My hero 5 is waterproof and the image stabilization is great.

I think my next camera will be a 360 degree camera. It just captures everything, then you can either publish it so people can watch in VR mode, or edit it to frame whatever the subject is perfectly.

You are correct, I forgot the Hero 5 was also waterproof to 30 meters. I think the 6 & 7 have improved stabilization but not that much better. I'm not sure the shooting modes of the 5 vs the 6 but I'm sure they are close. I do know a lot of the cheap knockoffs are great but lack some features. Example would be the Yi which will shoot at 4k but only 30 frames per second. The Hero 6 will shoot at 4k 240 fps for quality slow motion.
