My father-in-law served in the Army Air Corps and was later in the USAF reserves. He always says not staying in the reserves was the biggest mistake he ever made. He doesn’t talk much about his service other than to tell anecdotes of the comical stuff. It was his time at what are now MacDill and Elgin AFBs that convinced him to move to Florida after the war.
