For all our GCMB Vets, and all Vets across this great country, thank you for your service and in particular your willingness to put your life on the line to protect the greatest country this world has ever seen. She may be sick at the moment, but it’s not terminal and as long as there are still a bunch of men and women willing to step up, we’ll be okay.

I served, but nothing spectacular, never really in harms way, deployed, Navy Expeditionary Medal ,did my time during the original cold war, tracked Russian Subs and had a few "interactions" with Russian Ships and planes.
USN 1980-1986
I come from a family full of veterans and service members. Marines, Navy, Army and Air Force.

A big thank you to all the Veterans out there and on the board.

We do these threads every year, I would like to dig a bit deeper.
To all the vets on here, How many have combat experience?
How many of you have Purple hearts?

Are there any exemplary service type recipients on the board?
Medal of Honor, distinguished service cross, Silver Stars etc.

Just curious and, if some of you would rather keep that stuff secret, please forgive my intrusion.

Thanks to all and anyone who served and allow me the freedoms I have (or used to have I should say). Be that as it may, to those GatorChatterers who served, even though I do not know you yet I kind of "know" you, I give a special thanks. Even though I probably dislike or despise most of you , I appreciate all of you.:fistbump:

24 years a Cold Warrior. Too young for Southeast Asia and in staff jobs for the Sandbox deployments. All my tours were in the US. So no one actually shot at me in anger. Except the SPs. In this non-hostile environment, I lost more than 10 squadron mates and classmates. I never understood the line "they also serve who only stand and wait" until pulling Alert. Thank you to all my comrades who went and are going in harms' way for our sake. Thank you all for remembering Veterans' Day. It was my honor and privilege to serve.

Thanks.

I also echo previous sentiments and want to thank other Veterans for their service too.
I also pray for our Military members that are currently serving and hope they are protected when put in harms way and, especially, do not fall prey to the woke bs being thrust upon them today.

US ARMY ‘89-93, left to get a college degree and return to get commissioned, but life happened and never went back in. Went to DLI in Monterey, California and did time at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, Texas and Ft Devins in Massachusetts for further training. Stationed at Camp Red Cloud in Ouijongbu, South Korea and the now closed Fort Ord in Monterey, California.

I haven’t used the Korean language in 30 years and am way beyond rusty :lol2:

My son is currently serving in the Marines

Thank you to all that have served!

USMC 2005-2009
Deployments to Afghanistan and South America. Did training exercises in Norway and Okinawa. It was an honor and privilege to serve this great country.

Happy Birthday to all the Marines on the board. Still dealing with the hangover from yesterday's celebrations! :lol2:

USN 85-91. MM1 - Nuke ELT.

Did some cool stuff. Highest award was Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for escorting Kuwaiti oil tankers through the gulf.

Medivaced off the ship on the way to Desert Storm...shoulder dislocated going down a ladder and was concussed pretty bad.

And, as always, you can thank me for my service by voting for politicians at every level that support the military and veterans!

BTW, I am sitting at Twin Peaks drinking beer and watching football. Just finished my Vets Day free cheeseburger (the best food of all the breasturants).

Had a free coffee at Ziggi's this morning and was going to get a free haircut, but our Sports Clips is no longer a Sports Clips. Gotta find another one between meals.

WWII My father was in the Philippines, his brother was in a ski outfit in Europe, Ellen's father was a Navy fighter pilot. I got out of school, spent a year in and out of the Pentagon, and then four years as a civilian floating around on the Admiral's staff with Carrier and Destroyer groups. Saw a few Ruskies but nobody shot at me, so I don't count.

Worse still, I had a blast.
