I'm making a presentation tomorrow, and I want to make an analogy and need some help. What would be an example, in a bigger game, where we had the lead going into the half, only to make some missteps, get complacent, and end up losing the game? Any details or ideas appreciated

The game is one of the most memorable in the heated Florida – Florida State rivalry and tied the NCAA record for the biggest fourth-quarter comeback.[1] In the matchup of 9-1 cross-state rivals at Florida State's Doak Campbell Stadium, Florida squandered a 28-point fourth quarter lead and allowed the Seminoles to tie the score at 31 in the final minutes. Because the game occurred before the advent of overtime in college football, it ended in a tie that would be regarded very differently by each respective fan base.

Doh! I had washed that from my brain, and now the memories come flooding back......dammit. That's perfect. Ok....how about a game where we led at the half, but we just ripped their hearts out and basically won it early in the 3rd quarter?

Gators starting quarterback Danny Wuerffel threw for 242 yards and five touchdowns before leaving the game in the third quarter.[57] With the Gators leading 38–17 in the fourth quarter, Gators backup quarterback Eric Kresser threw for two more touchdowns, one with 1:21 remaining, to make the final score 52–17.[57] After the game, Gators coach Steve Spurrier stated that he had wanted to be the first opponent to hang "half a hundred" on the Bulldogs in their own stadium because "we heard no one had ever done that before."[58][59] The Gators' fifty-two points remains the record for most scored against Georgia "between the hedges."[60]

That was basically our MO in the SOS years. It was over by half or early in the 3rd.

Wear a tux, use a great visual, and your content won't matter. (might I recommend a functioning volcano?)

The UT game in the rain comes to mind. Once the rain really started, our score just kept adding up. And little ol' Peyton didn't know what to do.

I was there. The only game I've ever been to at the erector set. I'm still shell-shocked.

I've got it, and a good tie in. Choke at the Doak....bad. 1997 NC game, giving into halftime with a slim lead, and then humiliating those same semenholes in the 2nd half....good. Thanks for the help. /thread

We don't speak of that game.

In 1962 the Gators played Duke in Jacksonville. They built up a 21-0 lead. I was 11 at the time, so I decided to go fishing. Imagine my surprise when I returned and found out the Gators had lost 28-21.

@Miami 2003 comes to mind as a game we had a big lead only to blow it in the 2nd half.
I'll never forget Zook sending Gavin Dickey out to run the option against Vilma and DJ Williams in a one score game.

A close game that turned into a rout in the 3rd quarter would be 08 JAX. I think we scored 42 unanswered points in that game.
It was truly breathtaking.

The infamous "Fourth and Dumb" affair with Georgia in 1976. Florida, riding a 6-1 record and #10 ranking, took a 21-13 lead into halftime only to watch it evaporate in the second half. UF came up short on fourth-and-one from its own 29 and the rest, as they say, was history. Georgia won going away 41-27. Afterward, Dickey said, "I made some dumb calls." Ya think?

UF/Auburn early 90's. To make matters worse, Buster Brown was coaching the War Tigers.
