Just a guess, but he lost the starting battle to JT Daniels. Also, not surprised. Newman was the most over-hyped Wake Forest transfer ever (especially since I can't think of another with any hype, no-less how much he was getting).

According to UGlyWire, Daniels hasn’t been cleared for games yet. Dwags are spinning it that Daniels beat Newman out. I highly doubt it. Newman is a far better passer than Daniels and is a serious threat as a runner.

Remember when Shockley was the QB at UGA and got hurt? This season is gonna get a UGA mulligan like they’ve gotten for the past 40 years

For a comparison, Newman is grading out as a 3rd to 4th round pick per various draft sites. Daniels doesn't even get a combine invite. That is how far apart they are. Dwags trying to spin Daniels as superior are deluded as usual. By the way, some even have Newman as a top 10 pick.

@Year2: JT Daniels is still not medically cleared to play for Georgia. There are still three weeks for it to happen, but it hasn’t happened yet.

Newman opting out is one of the funniest things I've heard in a while. After a whole summer of hearing how great he was etc., and now he's never even going to take a meaningful snap for them. And if he chooses to stay in school he'll keep his scholly. Hilarious.
