Prabalgad Fort is located some 40 kilometers from the city of Mumbai and was built (cut into the stone) around 500BCE for some queen named Kalavantin.
Technically this fascinating place is abandoned in the sense that it is not used for its original purpose, but it gets visits from tourist and locals often and is easily accessible from the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
They suggest you stay away from trekking in monsoons as the steps get very slippery. I don't know what fukking idiot would be climbing this thing with a monsoon threatening. There is a youtube video of the climb and descent posted below the image.
