Well last year the minimum acceptable number of wins for a UF coach was 10 in the regular season. The schedule ended up even easier than I imagined with the FSU collapse. Mullen failed to achieve that minimum number, but did win the bowl and had an offense that improved throughout the season. Thus most around here viewed last season as a success.
The 2019 schedule is:
Miami (in Orlando): W A neutral site game against a rookie head coach is one the right guy for UF will win.
UT-Martin: W
at UK: W Mullen can not afford to go 0-2 to UK
UTn: W Can't take UF's foot off their throat.
Towson: W
Auburn: W A home game against a team about to fire their coach must be won.
at LSU: L I guess, though really the right coach at UF should rarely if ever lose to Orgeron
at SoCar: W, UF's should never lose to SoCar that has less talent and inferior coaching.
UGa: L I guess though it is getting time for Mullen to beat them.
Vandy: W Can't lose this one at home.
at UMo: W Inferior talent and Mullen must provide the coaching to get his more talented team a W.
FSU: W Still a bad team.
This is a much tougher schedule than last year. Miami replaces a scheduled win. The string of LSU home games is over and UF must travel there. UF must go to Missouri late in the year and older fans like me will remember late year road games to UK being a problem.
I guess the must wins where UF has a clear talent edge are UT-Martin, at UK, Towson, at SoCar, Vandy and at UMo. The talent is pretty even with Miami, UTn, Auburn, at LSU, UGa, and FSU though some will argue one way or another about the small talent edges on these rosters. I will be disappointed if UF did not win the 3 home games of these and split the two neutral site games. That would again make me disappointed if UF comes away less than 10 regular season wins.
