This team is so soft even though they have multiple guys 6'8 and bigger. They start off by making a couple inside baskets and then rattle off something like 6 or 7 three pointers in a row. Then they take about a 10 point lead by consistently getting the ball inside and then they make a couple three pointers so they revert back to only shooting three-pointers.

And when they finally do go back to taking it inside at the end of the game, they get absolutely dominated because this team does not know how to play inside. Smith and Walker are both big guys that are never in position offensively to press the interior. I don't ever see anybody receive the ball in the post and back down the person guarding them. Horford is about 6'8 and all he does is sit on the three-point line.

The talent is there. But mentally and physically they are really, really, really soft.

Their most physical players are Hill, Chiozza, and Kurtz. Two guards and a walk on.

That speaks volumes about this group.

I am seeing a lack of rhythm in their overall game. When you have to slow down and run the offensive set, fine. But the guys who can shoot are not taking their shot early in the shot clock, like they are afraid...so they pass. This leads to shooting under pressure. And you are spot on regarding the inside game...nobody imposing their will on the inside, at all. and the icing on the cake...the only open shot with no defender on you, the free throw. We suck at it. So, based on all that, 7 - 6 is about right...

I agree. They pass for the sake of passing. Not to find the open guy. Multiple times a game they will over pass or the ball will only pass around on the 3 point line. Nobody hits the post and calls for the ball. Our 2 point guards are our most consistent slashers.

Unfortunately, a lot of what you speak to goes to coaching. Same with the sh¡tty FT shooting we seem to harp on every year.

Further proof of this team being soft in the middle (though with good size):

@onlygators: Florida is 290th out of 345 teams nationally in FT percentage (.643). #Gators are 316th in FTs attempted (213) and 322nd in FTs made (137).

316th out of 345 teams in FT attempts!! Holy cow!!

This is definitely a challenging year for the Gators and Billy. I agree that Billy gets part of the blame, but mostly due to a lack of recruiting that has put us in this position. He is dealing with a lot of transfers (Hortford, Murphy, Dodo and Carter) - Dodo has been around long enough, but the other 3 are brand new to the system.

Both freshmen are OK, but neither one is great.

Two 5* recruits that are playing well below expectations (Walker and Hill). Walker is an athletic freak, but doesn't seem to have the skills needed. Hill could be a superstar if he could learn to shoot.

I will be surprised if this team makes the tourney, but I know Billy will work hard to get them to improve and get the team back to where it needs to be.

We hit these scoring droughts and nobody steps up. In the past we've had leaders and guys with the ability to get a bucket. The lack of post presence is killing us. Luckily next year we'll add egbunu, Dickerson and maybe rimmer can give us some decent minutes down low. But I don't see scorer out on the perimeter that can get us a bucket when we need one. This may be a 2 or 3 year rebuild because we have a scholarship log jam. Atleast we're are still competing. We haven't been blown out by anyone.

Fine, still working on some things. Didn't get the job she thought she was going to get, which honestly to me will ultimately be a good thing as now she has to work a bit for it lol. Not that she hasn't earned where she's at, but that job would have basically been handed to her by the doings of other people. But she's doing well, and looking into other avenues, and networking with some other people recently though should hopefully pan out, but we'll see.
