NCAA Waiver Wire?

Dear Board.
I m not trying to be funny but when a player is elegible to transfer from an NCAA Div 1 school, is their an automatic notice to other schools, especially those needing his position?

Recruiting a player that is a member of another college team is against NCAA rules, so there would be no official notice to anyone.

There is no waive wire like in MLB or notices sent. If a kid wants to transfer he has to get released first then contact schools. Obviously there is often back channel communications going on but we can't officially go out there and recruit kids while they are still at another school.

Hey Mudd, what if he s been given his release? Dosn t someone carry it, like a waver wire in the NFL?

Once he gets a release, we can talk with him. The process usually looks like this: someone like the kids old HS coach makes a call to see if we might be interested. Obviously an OL with a pulse will get interest from us.
