Dameon Pierce interview:
Watch: Not many Gators more personable with media than Dameon Pierce
Q: So, if this hasn't been asked—you chose Florida, there are a lot of great players here and other schools, but Alabama gets a ton of them. What is it about Alabama, how do they get players there, and stockpile so much talent?
Pierce: “Edgar, man I thought you had something better for me man. I don't work in recruitment at Alabama. I don't know what they do. I don’t know Edgar, come on man."
Q: Well, like if you were given a choice I mean, if they were coming after you hard—did they?
Pierce: "I was committed to Bama, Edgar, we know this.”
Q: Oh, I'm not a recruiting guys, Zach Abolverdi, he would know.
Pierce: “I was committed to Alabama…man”
Q: So you were you were committed to Bama; you talked about this tonight?
Pierce: "No, I'm about to now.”
Q: All right, let me have it. Why didn't you, what swayed you to come to Florida, because Alabama don't lose that many battles.
Pierce: “They don’t lose that many? You probably right on that one. I don’t know, Edgar, I was so young bro, gosh. We going back to what 2017? Let’s get in the time machine and go back. Why did I come to Florida? That’s the question you’re asking me?”
Q: Let’s do it, c’mon
Pierce: “Bama was what, seven hours away from me. Florida is what, two and a half, three at the most? My mama can get here easy. I don’t like my momma on the road that long. Other than that, Edgar. I had a better relationship we know what the coaches here, then there. So, ultimately you know that I'm a relationship guy, you know, and that was the ultimate deciding factor for me.”
Q: Being a 15 point underdog at home? Does that light a fire?
Pierce: “This is my first time hearing that. 15 points? Against Bama? They being nice, aint they? They being nice ain’t they?”
Q: You think?
Pierce: “I think they is. Everybody Bama plays is what, like 20 plus (point underdogs)? They showing us love. They showing love to us. 15-point underdogs.”
