what steps do I take to post a pic on here? who can walk me through so I can post pics of the twins when they are born...thanks in advance

This has proven to be difficult for me as well (if they’re my own pictures).
I created a photobucket account (it’s free- with limited storage).
Then I upload the pictures using their interface.
It then provides the shareable link(s) to the pictures you just uploaded.
And at that point you choose the picture icon when you create a GC post, then paste the link.
Others might have found easier ways.
They say on the internet, if you need an answer to your question, just post the wrong answer.

If you’ve take a photo on your phone, the photos are stored in your camera roll. You use the button that says “Upload a File” and then choose “Photo Library” which will then allow you to chose one of you photos. Click on the photo and it will have a check box on it. Click Done and it will upload. Click Full Image and it will show in the text box and you can click Post. See screen shots below.
