Grier has the talent to be a very, very good QB. I know what I saw and he has what it takes no matter how some try to diminish it. Quite frankly, losing him is a pretty big blow. But again, I think if he wanted a guarantee Mac did the only thing he could do by letting him go. And if he DID ask for a guarantee he's a fool and weeny. It illustrates his judgement and decision making skills, or rather, lack there of. But to be perfectly honest, I began getting some hinkey feelings about his judgement when I saw the hideous tattoo he got.

Oh, and don't bother commenting on his great decision making in women. Even Quasimodo can get a hot chick if he's the QB for the Florida Gators.

She's good from far, but far from good

At the point you quit on us, I don't really care what the reason is/was. The dudes out. His circus and private entourage can go fade into the sunset. I don't see a reason to waste bandwidth on a mute point. Mac comes from a descent coaching lineage and I'm kind of excited about seeing that translate into his vision of a Championship team. I don't see Mac as the kind of coach that would indict a "good" player in tune with the team's cause. I can see a form of disdain for any player who thinks they're bigger than the team. In that, send the psycho kid and his pop packing.

********.
"And sometimes in life we all maybe look for … hmmm, what to say maybe, uh, sure things, you know, guarantees. There are no guarantees.”
Guarantee what? That Grier won't get in trouble again? Guarantee that he won't be living with Austin Hardon again? Guarantee that he will have a functional offensive line next year? Or maybe a guarantee that his coach doesn't hate him and bury him on the depth chart because he or someone advising him made a mistake about the whole suspension?

Far be it from the Slantinel to misplace quotes.......like a "real QB"

If anything reading these quotes from our coach make me think he may be hiding something....

'Crete has an argument there.

Was this ever in doubt really? What else do you guys think "the Griers" demanded a meeting to discuss? Snacks in the lounge? Colors of the drapes in the dorms? Lack of true blondes at the bar scene?

Fvkk him. Good luck in junior college and sitting out til midway through 2017.
Really! I'm sure they tried leaning on Mac. I still think he will play in JUCO and if he has a good year, will try and go pro.

What a weak coward. He's leaving because he doesnt want to compete for his job back? He can take his little ball, and his PEDs, and get the hell out.

(Thanks for the UT and Ole Miss win though.)
That's right. He's the one that should be wearing a bag over his head.

Grier's father really screwed the pooch on this one and once Grier finds himself going through two-a-days at some community college in El Paso this summer he'll realize he shouldn't have listened to his old man. Hell, if I were Will I'd bone his father's wife as retribution then slip the kielbasa to the father's ex-wife for good measure. That kind of career "guidance" needs an appropriate response, and I think Will is capable handling the deed aptly.

Everyone can agree that Mac did the right thing by letting him go. If Mac was given an ultimatum he didn't really even have a choice, he was gone.

However, make no mistake, he is really really good. He was a freshman with minimal experience, and yet all you had to do was use your eyes to see the kid is a special talent. Screw what stats he had against which teams. If you were paying attention and have even a little ability to scout talent then you know he was a baller and would have been the best QB on our team as long as he was on our team.

He also looks like he has next level talent, and will fit right in since he already has the ego, dooshbag attitude and PED connections.

No one saying that the kid isn't talented. But talent alone doesn't take you to the next level. There have been a number of guys who were ballers their first year, and when teams had tape on them disappeared. A 5 game sample size is too small. There is a reason that most NFL teams prefer a quarterback to have at least 27 college starts, sample size. Talent will carry you until you show the character and determination to develop further. We do not know that about Grier. What we know is he had the potential to be something special. Not that he was something special.

Hell, he's probably already done it. This stuff is no longer taboo, just ask PornHub. They probably have film in their vaults with this very scenario.

A successful quarterback needs three attributes: physical ability; mental ability (making reads and spit second decisions); and leadership qualities. Grier has the physical ability; he was developing the mental ability; but is severely deficient in leadership qualities. I doubt he ever develops them. I'm glad he's going to work on them someplace else.

Treon has not developed the mental abilities to be a good quarterback. However, he has been a great Gator and has given the team 100% effort. I wish him well whatever he does next year. I hope he stays a Gator and helps the team as a backup, wildcat quarterback, or slot receiver.

I don't think any of our Freshman quarterbacks will be ready to play this year. I really hope Luke Del Rio has the physical ability, mental ability, and leadership to make us competitive in all our games next year (even if we get to play 15). Go Gators!
