Right now it's a tie between Gus Mahlzan ( only because of the quick turnaround at Auburn) and Lamo Fisher but give it two years and Urban and Saban will be fighting for 2nd. The rankings will look like this. 1. McElwain 2. Meyer or Saban 3. Malzahn (Jimbo fired after going 3-24 over two year span.)

les miles seems to do less with more talent, they are second behind usc with most nfl draft picks since 2007, to me it's hard to say who is after saban and meyer, lets just hope mac is in the conversation

Right now I'd take Patterson with Briles not far behind. But taking the last decade into consideration, I'd take Stoops or Pinkel. With Miles on the outside looking in.

And SOS is up there of course. Limited only by his interest and disinterest at any given moment.

Briles has done more, with less, over time than anyone I can remember. His players and administration love him, but he will never leave Baylor because he understands loyalty and tradition.

Patterson? Dont think hes won even a conference.

If you had to start a CFB program today, Urbs and Saban are unavailable, who would you choose? I'd take Patterson without hesitation

If you are going to put Miles up there, then you have to swallow your own vomit and mention Richt as well.

Richt has won nothing.

How could I forget SOS???? He's my choice, dammit!

What has SOS done since leaving UF? True, his name alone was enough to elevate the USC program, but no major championships to show for his many years there despite being his teams being favored several times.

There's a difference between best resume and best current coach. SOS and Stoops easily have the best resumes (Natty title and multiple power conference championships) with Miles slightly behind. But if you want the best coach in the game, including recruiting the conversation is much more open. I'd take Patterson, Briles then Peterson.

Patterson by all accounts is a great coach but tcu went 5-7 last year and 7-6 the year before that. That's something to think about
