The comment someone else had made stands tall in my mind, in that SEC put two teams into the CFP. That bumped every other SEC team up a bowl. Consider if Bama hadn't gotten in, and instead faced UCF or ND, would they have won? Take the rest of the teams, who would win the matchups that were one step lower than what they actually faced. Having two teams in the CFP means it is harder matchups for our remaining teams - and we didn't fare so well as a conference overall, but we will still be walking away with the NC.
