Tre'vez only getting 14 snaps is criminal. Stiner getting 44 is downright treasonous and worthy of the death penalty. Burney has no instinct to play LB. If Hopper had been getting Burney's snaps, he would already be better. I'd say the same for Jesiah Pierre.

Where the hell is Princely Umanmielen?

This guy should be playing the end of each half. He has great speed & quickness when the ball is snapped and would get a few sacks when the other team's line is tired.

Travez and Hopper definitely need more reps . Burney isn’t very physical , is not very good
In coverage but has improved in that area . He was terrible in the Carolina game and looks decent out there now .

I would like to see the defensive numbers by half. Most of those second string snaps happened in the second half when it looked like they knew what they were doing.

I'm guessing Dunlap returns and could be a starter next season w/ Lang in the 2-deep for sure. He didn't have a spring this year and has managed to play significant snaps (he doesn't look very good, but I think w/ a year of S&C and a spring he could come back ready to contribute). Lang could get over 290 and Dunlap to 300 - otherwise that heavy DL rotation is going to be suspect AF. I've been hearing Carter may return, so that would help shore up that spot. But we'll need Dexter, Lee, Princely, Powell, and maybe one or two of the true freshman (Watson, Sapp, Thomas?) to be big contributors otherwise.

I’m getting the same feeling about Hev. His group has shown marked improvement as a whole, but still doesn’t have the talent/depth to be making a lot of moves. Oline is kinda my thing, I’ve been watching and rewatching when things break down a fair amount. Just a few takeaways: this is Heggie’s healthiest and best year. I had a feeling if we cleaned up center play we would take a step forward, and so far so good. No tripping the pulling G, which is nice.
Gouraige is doing a good enough job that if I was Hev I wouldn’t want to move him. Watched a few of his pulls and he made the DE pay dearly. Seems to rarely miss assignments but it is hard to tell not knowing the call.
Stone is doing a helluva job. Nothing glaring at all.

Reese looks lost on some runs, especially counters. It’s to the point that you can’t tell if he doesn’t know the assignment due to the front, or isn’t physical enough, or both. If the offense wasn’t rolling I would replace with Braun in a heartbeat.

Which brings me to Delance. Again, I’m with you thinking it is Hev not wanting to shake the unit up. I think it is the only justification for leaving Delance in. I think you could slide Braun out there right now and while T isn’t his natural position, he would be an upgrade. Delance is mentally lost half the time and getting beat like a government mule the other half.
Agree that White is slow on pulls and getting upfield. He is violent as hell though, and the getting downfield will get better with more reps.
Hev is probably glad to be out of the doghouse after last year, and the personnel moves will likely be minimal as a result.

Everyone agrees Burney is out of place at LB. So where should he play?
He is out of place at ILB.

He is an OLB, SS or hybrid. We just don't play any of those positions in this goofy ass defense.

One "OLB" is the Rushbacker/Edge/hybrid DE and the other (Moon on paper) gets pulled for the nickel corner 95% of the time.

Both safeties are little free safety types which Grantham like I guess so he doesn't have to flop the strong safety with alignment changes.
