So it's Treon's fault?

For a kid making his first full start on less than a week's notice, on the road in one of the game's toughest venues, Treon did well. Couldn't have asked for more out of him, all things considered. Talk about a much-needed bye week to get him up to speed and ready to go against UGA. Kid will be fine moving forward.

All this time I thought the kid had a few starts under his belt last year. I mean that's why some people thought he was going to win out the starting job at the beginning of the season.

I love all the hypocrites that clamor "This underachiever had no coaching with the previous staff" but with Treon its "He played last year!" Hilarious

Treon didn't get ideal coaching last year but, don't act like he's never made a start before. Simply stating one can't say he has starting experience in the SEC and should be a shoe in to win the starting job this season because of it, then claim his faults at LSU are because that was his "first full start". Hypocrite? Irony maybe.

Skewed stat perspective, or at least not the normal angle one would take in comparing QB stats, but Saturdays Down South ran a 'clutch' ranking on SEC QBs based on QB ratings in games, essentially comparing first half QBR to 4th QTR QBR to see if they excel or fold when the game is on the line:

Name School Diff b/t 1st Half and 4th quarter
1 Treon Harris Florida -114.91
2 Brandon Allen Arkansas -68.52
3 Maty Mauk Missouri -44.84
4 Will Grier Florida -37.01
5 Chad Kelly Ole Miss -36.27
6 Drew Lock Missouri -34.79
7 Sean White Auburn -26.34
8 Kyle Allen Texas A&M -23.23
9 Dak Prescott Mississippi State -21.47
10 Greyson Lambert Georgia -15.57
11 Jake Coker Alabama -14.77
12 Johnny McCrary Vanderbilt -7.88
13 Patrick Towles Kentucky -7.43
14 Joshua Dobbs Tennessee 0.07
15 Perry Orth South Carolina 5.72
16 Jeremy Johnson Auburn 59.36
To look at the original numbers from which these disparities were calculated, check these first-half rankings:

Name School 1st Half QB Rating
1 Treon Harris Florida 237.22

13 Maty Mauk Missouri 111.78
14 Johnny McCrary Vanderbilt 111.01
15 Perry Orth South Carolina 98.89

The numbers are a reflection of lot of things, but these stand out in my mind: the coaching staff being unafraid to mix it up on first down, which sends a clear message to the other side of the ball that we're going to try and dictate tempo. And the better playcalling combined with marked improvement from the receiving corps is taking some of the heat off the offensive line. But the guy taking the snaps has to learn to get rid of the ball early if we're gonna keep this thing going.
