I watched a bit of it this afternoon, it seems that SOS still has that coaching itch a bit. Big Mac should scratch it and let SOS be a part-time tutor to our four QB's.

Twelve years is along time at one place these days. You can't blame him for taking the money, either. Richest coaching contract ever at that time and he was doing it for a living.

Does Mac need another Quality Control coach?

Could you friggin imagine how awesome that would be to have THE ol' ball coach on staff as an offensive "quality control specialist" ?

Obviously, it'll never happen and I can't imagine SOS ever being able to play second fiddle to anybody. But it would be awesome if he did it for a couple years, helped Mac rebuild the Monster that SOS created in the first place decades ago. And then officially retire, a GATOR.

You know in regards to wishing he had stayed longer; SOS will always be a gator legend and he brought us to where we were before Stank tore us down.....however, if he stays we might not get Meyer and I'm not sure Spurrier does what Meyer did in winning 2 chips in 3 years

Probably get blasted...but I would give one of those up to have had SOS come back for as long as he stayed in USCe. While I appreciate the wins we got from UM...we could have done without the drama and the bottom falling out at the end.:stirpot:

This can't be an honest response... he didn't leave for the money... It had to be Foley's fault! Didn't he leave because Foley... we need to blame Foley!

Wish is continued good health, robust health. Dream would be Steve comes as Mr. Two Bits.
Heck even Jerri would do as Mrs. Two Bits ... the wind beneath his wings. ??
Geezzz, I'd take him as Quality Control Coach for shooting freethrows for Gator BBall.

Another example of what makes SOS so great. Yes, he's an arrogant guy and not the warm and fuzzy personality people prefer. However, he's as publicly honest about himself as he is about his opinions of other schools and coaches. That can be rough, but it's also rock solid integrity. I can think of other coaches whose integrity lacked the same characteristics, even if more media friendly/popular.

He really marches to the beat of his own drum, and most don't realize or understand it. But he'll probably always be Florida's favorite son.

SOS is a class act. I used to write him a thank you note at the end of every season and he always wrote back. No matter where he finished; he's a Gator and that means everything. Happy birthday Coach.

He gave us the funnest years in the history of Gator football. We expected to win and usually won big. I never really worried if we were down 2 TDs because within 3 minutes we were leading again. Nothing lasts forever....

Nothing like having an alum coach your team... because they hate the clowns, the buttchuggers and the dwags as much as we do...
