This was almost "fall off the chair" news when I read it earlier. He clearly wants to win a Cup and the Bolts give him the best chance - at least among the teams that were expected to make a run for him. $8.5M is a big chunk of the cap obviously, but it should give Yzerman a chance to extend Hedman and some of the younger skaters next year. They'll be a Cup favorite this season. Woo Hoo!!!


You have to figure they're going to move Bishop and his $5M salary. They probably can't afford him and pay him the bump he's due, they have a capable youngster in Vasilevskiy and if they keep him they'll likely lose him in next year's expansion draft - and get nothing in return.
