I think it is the SEC's math rule. UF's specific rule shave more to do with repeated courses.

BTW, prompted by this thread,I updated my depth chart by class somewhat today. I have it with:

A. Four recent transfers in: Delance, Dunlap, Grimes and Jefferson

B. Three announced declared for the NFL (you can never be sure about these until the official list comes out): Bryan, Callaway, Pineiro

C. Thirteen signee: The names are here: http://floridagators.com/documents/2017/12/20/2017_December_Signing_Day_Media_Packet.pdf

So I have UF with a total 80 players with eligibility in 2018 or the future. That leave 5 slots pending further attrition. We all know some of that attrition is coming but I wonder if UF will get to 25.

Did you assume the 2 guys facing numerous felony charges (Smith & Telfort) are gone? I did and my depth chart has 80 also, but I didn’t have Dunlap.

I also picked 5-6 I expect to transfer, including Scarlett. The others are 2nd year or more that haven’t recorded stats yet.

Aside: I kept up that depth chart from the early 1990’s until 2012. I quit because I started seeing them published and decided to outsource it journalists. Two things changed this fall that made me revive it. First, I saw a chart I think from GatorBait that had many glaring errors and omissions. Second, I’m more fired up than I have been since 2009. Mullen wasn’t high on my list but won me over very quickly.

You should be banned simply for use of that fuggin retarded phrase.

:boo:

Well, I find it hilarious AND, more importantly... I know you hate that phrase and saw an opportunity to poke you and Ox in one post.

I’m trying to up my game and keep up with pros like you. How’d I do?

Agreed! I served in the U.S. Navy and can attest that a lot of the guys coming in make Copeland look like a choir boy.

Honestly, I'm not sure why so many on this board are giving the kid a hard time. He's not a troublemaker. A 17 year old kid that starves attention and likes to tweet... Yeah, that makes him a bad guy? GTFOH! Sorry to break the news to you, but that's the way kids are these days.

If he were getting arrested or doing drugs or being mischievous I would be concerned also. But what he's doing is a non issue IMO. It's par for the course in today's society.

Let's just hope he comes here and that he can play. His Twitter acumen is none of my concern.

I know how I was from about 15 to 20. Even when I first enlisted it took some very strong, competent leadership to rein me in. Thankfully my first company commander handled some issues “in house” with the First Sergeant’s old school assistance and it not only saved my career but everything good that happened to me in my life would have been erased if not for their leadership. I later was commissioned (mustanger) and used the same approach many times on young Marines who just needed to grow up. I doled out a lot of leadership (discipline) “off the books” but saved careers and got kids on track.

There are many athletes who went on to be very successful who credited much of that success on coaches and mentors who stepped into their life.

I don’t put too much emphasis on social media....some maybe...but with a balance. Vetting these kids properly will expose the ones that we should walk away from. Again I really don’t know anything about this particular kid but I have not read of any real transgressions yet other than he is enjoying his moment in the spotlight.

...... I have not read of any real transgressions yet other than he is enjoying his moment in the spotlight.

The only thing I’ve seen which was cause for concern was some stupid tweet (of course...I’ve seen very few tweets that aren’t “stupid” tweets) that’s said something like “I told my mom I was always gonna be a gangsta”. I was like.... yeah after the whole Hernandez thing, we should really probably stay away from gangsta’s for a while....

Hopefully it’s just a product of his environment and the kid is just repeating some stupid azz rap song or something... but staying away from gangs. It’s just a stupid thing to do when colleges are vetting you. Very, very immature. But like you said, hopefully some coach can be a father figure to him and all he needs is some discipline and growing up...

Most shythead teenagers are a product of no father at home or one not worth a damn. We have no idea how he'll respond to discipline and guidance until he receives some.

So many people fail to observe a simple caution: EVERYTHING you post on social media is permanent and universally available. Employers and prospective employers look at it. Further, I think most sites like Facebook or Twitter claim a copyright on you posts. And, as the last election cycle proved, stiff we post on message boards can be mined as well. (But who would care to mine most of us?)

Never put anything in an email you can’t face publicly and be cautious about texts, too.

That’s life on the grid.

The Marine has it right. 17 and 18 years olds have not grown up emotionally yet but given the right care, they will. I was a brand new aircraft commander with an 18 year gunner who was newly married to a 17 year old girl. I had to get him (and her) out of financial messes several times, bounced checks, failure to pay, etc. The kicker came when we were on alert and the young bride bought a pair of puppies for $300 (in 1978). The check bounced. This time I called their church (Latter Day Saints) and explained what was happening. From then on two church ladies were always visiting when Rollie was away. He retired after thirty years as a CMSgt still married to that same girl. Kids grow up if you let help 'em.

God that brings back memories. One of the most frequent issues I dealt with was going out in town to used car dealerships and getting some young Marine’s money back after they blew their entire budget on a car or truck at 30% interest (decades ago)...the other big issue of course...alcohol fueled brawls. As a Commanding Officer my first “to do” on a Monday morning was to review the weekend police blotter to see if anyone was arrested for fighting. I always liked the fighters and brawlers but had to rein them in before they ruined their careers and lives before they really even got started.

Nick Bonnito will not consider UF. Said previous staff never wanted him and will commit to the ones that were there since the beginning

Unless the new staff has made up ground with him, I’d bet he’s headed to the Barn unfortunately

I agree. But I’d see your shythead teenagers and raise you one shythead father figure and/or deadbeat dad.
